I will be wary in 2012. she will probably run for the nomination. she is a lot like Bush. She has a loyal following on the far right, is likable to a lot of people, and would perform well in a controlled environment with staged appearances and a team to manage her( ie. Rove, Cheney).

Some, IMO, have absolutely no conception of what this country should be all about or what we really need. People like Sarah Palin do.

That is what makes America so great actually, the diversity of people with the FREEDOM to think for themselves without having others opinions forced upon them as fact. I am sorry to see that freedom means little to you...;-)

I think she's quitting because the free time gives her the opportunity to make tons of money on the circuit and work on her presidential aspirations. I think she's likely to be successful on the former, but on the latter no ****ing way. She will continue to have a dedicated cult following but that's about it. Bells and whistles will go off in most people's heads if she even gets close to the presidency.
the only "cult following" she has is the news media circus!!! Lucie

I think it's beneath Rove. I was listening to him today. I would give him credit for being a rational sort of person.

I predict there is more to Sarah's quitting than the reasons she stated. I really was disturbed with her saying Trig needs her. Didn't she know that when JM came calling?
Someone posted about her ability to raise money for the party. I say they are using her.

I think there is more to this resignation than we are presently privy to, but we won't know until it surfaces. I like her, but as of right now, I don't think she is a good candidate for the Presidency.

If the Independents/Libertarians land a strong candidate, that's where my vote is going. My Dem and Rep friends have already tongue lashed me for this for 'taking away votes from them.' However, I feel that we are in need of change and while it will take decades to undo what has been done, my efforts will be placed to help lay a foundation for our future generations. Baby steps! But, it will pay off. I felt like I didn't have a home last year as I didn't want to vote for either candidate.

That, or I am looking an area of democracy and parliament - in retrospect, Traderx had the right idea about this tax situation. I didn't give him enough credit for this, but I do now. IMHO, neither the Dems or Reps have control over spending~~~~~~and, the cycle continues.

 That's all well and good but it's fair for many of us to be angry with the way McCain treated the nominating process so cavalierly. On one hand I could thank him for making the choice so easy, but on the other hand it would have been nice to have a GOP ticket for these serious times. I don't agree with everything Romney says, for example, but at the end of the day if you take away the campaign failures and awkwardness I believe he is a very good administrator with some good ideas and could have been a worthy running mate for a 72-year-old cancer survivor.

Oh well, maybe it worked out for the best, as I would not want McCain anywhere near the Iran issue.
