she cut and ran

Welcome back bob. Apparently this morning a storm is gathering with some new issues brewing, some Republican pundits are now saying there are some alleged internal Alaska governmental legal reason that would make it VERY prudent for her to exit now--just like Rove's exit from the Bush cabinent....pass me the popcorn folks!

Its not just Sarah Palin's philosophy with which I agree. I am very much for a smaller federal government, states rights which are really meaningful, local control of local matters which affect and impact the people in a specific geographical area, less taxes in general but more taxes where needed for specifically identified areas that citizens can agree on. I could continue but, Geo, knowing you are an expansive thinker, I'm sure you get the idea. There are many other things I have mentioned numerous times such as term limits. Congress, in its present form is a disgrace, and yet nothing is done about it.
In regard to strong convictions there is nothing wrong with that. As I have said before, my wise, but uneducated father, use to say, " A wise man will often change his mind but a fool never does". I am not a fool, regardless of what some on this board may think. I am, however, very pragmatic and will only change my mind, philosophy and actions when shown good reason. At the federal level of government that hasn't happened and shows no signs of happening in the near future.
The fraud, waste and mismanagement in our government at all levels, but particularly the federal level, is devastating. Geo, do you now have an idea of my idea of how we should be governed? I realize I have not gotten into specifics. They are too numerous to go into here. If you are still at a loss as to what I feel there is nothing more I can tell you.

Thx for the serious response. It cited pretty clear ideas as to how you believe we should be governed. And believe it or not, I wish for those things as well...

The only part that was unclear to me was your first sentence-
What philosophy of hers are you refering to that you agree with? (I tried fixing my prepositions and it sounded terrible so I left it as-is). haha

I do agree with most of what you say..definitely the limit on campaigns! I'm not for against Palin, but there sure are alot worse out there than her! I wouldn't want her for President any more I wanted Obama...neither of them have enough experience!! I think 4 years down the road we will be calling Obama the 2nd Jimmy Carter!

How can you equate quitting for no reason w/ 18 months left in your term and everything going to hell w/ campaigning while in office (which Palin also did BTW)?

Palin isn't quitting because she is taking on a much larger job/responsibility, she's quitting because she can't handle her job......and one of the reasons her constituents are upset woth her is that she continued to be absentee AFTER the elections.

Though I do agree that we need to limit the campaigns so people aren;t spending more time running for the offices than serving in them. I vote for no campaigning OF ANY KIND more than 12 months before the election........and 10% of all campaign contributions going to reduce the federal debt.

I thought I was going to have a tough decision between McCain and Obama - and then he picked Palin and I no longer had a decision to make.

She is just wrong and anyone who isn't uber-GOP and blinded by the knee-jerk idea of "a woman in the office post-Hilary not getting the nom" knows it.

It isn't the media influence, it isn't the gender, it isn't 72 other things, it's Palin.

I don't think it has anything to do with gender! Or, Hilary Clinton. My decisions went a hell of a lot deeper than, "it's Palin!" My decisions went much deeper than, "it's Obama!" You should probably give Americans more credit.

But, other than that Scooterbug44, you're exactly right!

Maybe my first sentence was misleading but I see her "philosophy" as being much of what I mentioned in my post. She is obviously strongly family oriented and I am not referring to the so called "family values" crap many wish to heap on so many Republicans. In all but the extreme right it is a bogus issue pushed by those on the far left and does not take into account those in the middle who are much more concerned with issues that affect their everyday problems and their solutions.
BTW, FYI, I do not feel at this time she would be a good candidate for President and I wouldn't vote for her without a lot of clarification on positions and presidential actions. Also, I figured you probably desired the same things that make me interested in better government. Unless you are just around to troll or make snide remarks (BTW, I make my share) most people involved with this forum are seeking what you and I are. It usually amounts to the methodology that will be used to get there that is contentious. It will be interesting to see how the future plays out. To be brutally honest, it is not of great importance to me. The importance of the right path and direction has to do with my kids (As old or older than many who post here) and my grandkids, one who recently graduated from OSU with a 5 year mechanical engineering technology degree and now can't find a job. It is his future and that of others his age for which I am really concerned. As they say, you can't live their lives for them so I want to see this nation as prosperous and progressive as it can be in order to give them a chance at the "good life".

Wasn't the recent two terms from one "marionette" president quite enough. What happened to authenticity.

Dont get me wrong; i think she would be an awful POTUS. I am merely saying that in a campaign, she could be well managed and controlled with access limited to favorable interviewers, "town halls", and a few debates.

In the interests of full disclosure, I like Palin and support her. I wanted her to run for POTUS and am truly disappointed that she quit office in midstream. I would have some difficulty now supporting her in 2012.

That said, I do not think she pulled out for political reasons. I saw that a family vote was taken with 4 "yes" votes and one "hell yes" vote: her husband. So I think she exited for her family's sake. I have read that she did not run for office once before due to her son's objections.

No one's children should be subjected to the kind of nasty, viscious things that have been said about the Palin children. As demonized as Rush/Hannity etc are, if they said anything remotely simular about the Obama children, the lynch mob would be out in force. In fact, Hannity joke the othe rnight that he would name the Democrat politician that he though "looked like a slutty flight attendant" and the Democrat lady he was interviewing about died. The double standard is amazing.
