I will be wary in 2012. she will probably run for the nomination. she is a lot like Bush. She has a loyal following on the far right, is likable to a lot of people, and would perform well in a controlled environment with staged appearances and a team to manage her( ie. Rove, Cheney).

Wasn't the recent two terms from one "marionette" president quite enough. What happened to authenticity.

I think there is more to this resignation than we are presently privy to, but we won't know until it surfaces. I like her, but as of right now, I don't think she is a good candidate for the Presidency.

If the Independents/Libertarians land a strong candidate, that's where my vote is going. My Dem and Rep friends have already tongue lashed me for this for 'taking away votes from them.' However, I feel that we are in need of change and while it will take decades to undo what has been done, my efforts will be placed to help lay a foundation for our future generations. Baby steps! But, it will pay off. I felt like I didn't have a home last year as I didn't want to vote for either candidate.

That, or I am looking an area of democracy and parliament - in retrospect, Traderx had the right idea about this tax situation. I didn't give him enough credit for this, but I do now. IMHO, neither the Dems or Reps have control over spending~~~~~~and, the cycle continues.

Lynnie  I know exactly where you are coming from when you say you are looking for a strong third party candidate. Even though he wasn't 3rd party - I found a lot of what Ron Paul said spot on! Then again, I disagreed with him on many fronts as well. :dunno: He is way to naive in many ways (I mean he got himself into a pickle with Bruno lol )

I have voted 3rd party in the past - I think it was the Bush/Clinton election. After that, I have voted dem - but I am not registered with any party.

Peggy Noonan said it on Sept. 3 "08 after JM had picked her for his running mate. "They have to kill her and kill her quick."

More immediately and seriously on Palin:

Because she jumbles up so many cultural categories, because she is a feminist not in the Yale Gender Studies sense but the How Do I Reload This Thang way, because she is a woman who in style, history, moxie and femininity is exactly like a normal American feminist and not an Abstract Theory feminist; because she wears makeup and heels and eats mooseburgers and is Alaska Tough, as Time magazine put it; because she is conservative, and pro-2nd Amendment and pro-life; and because conservatives can smell this sort of thing?who is really one of them and who is not?and will fight to the death for one of their beleaguered own; because of all of this she is a real and present danger to the American left, and to the Obama candidacy.

She could become a transformative political presence.

So they are going to have to kill her, and kill her quick.

And it?s going to be brutal. It?s already getting there. Peggy Noonan

So as Betty Davis said in one movies "Fasten your seatbelts it going be a bumpy night" :trainwreck:

I think the biggest difference is that you have never heard these things on CNN, MSNBC, ABC, etc. And you haven't read articles about him in that vein in Vanity Fair, The New York Times, etc., etc., etc.

Granted, the office of President is afforded more respect than that of Governor, but the level of disrespect shown her was/is proportionally far greater.

I completely understand your difficulty in respecting a President in whom you have little confidence or pride.

Winnie - you made a good point in your post about not seeing the Hitler comment etc... on CNN, MSNBC, etc... but I did hear Tom Sullivan from FOX compare Obama and Hitler and a LOT of people listen to FOX.

Fox News Radio's Tom Sullivan aired "side-by-side comparison" of speeches by Hitler and Obama | Media Matters for America

Also, there was the caption on CNN in big bold letters: "OBAMA THE ANTICHRIST?" Now you know how people pick up on sound bites and headlines. IMO that was uncalled for.

I beleive that most of the Haters on here will get hit between the eyes by one of Obama's sophmoric decisions before next election. I beleive you will be gladly reaching out to Palin in 2012.:D

"Haters"? That's the pot calling the kettle black lol!!

You sound HOPEFUL that Obama will fail!

OMG I just thought of something TERRIBLE associated with this!! :violin:

Jon Stewart and Colbert are OFFFFFFFF next week! I'll have to wait until they return from vacation to hear what they say about it. I know all their wheels are turning right now in anticipation of a great return.

PS BTW, They are "equal opportunity" comedians - everyone is fair game - even the current administration. I LOVE THEM! :dothewave:

Still don't know what exactly you are saying. You have demonstrated on this board that you are rich in life experience, strong in character, sound in logic and reason in so many misc areas. So it puzzles me what you see in this person. What direction does she want that you connect with? I agree that she epitomizes someone strong in their convictions who believes they are right. Bush is this way. So is Bin Laden. So is Ahmadinejad. So was Charles Manson. So is our current President. Which attitudes regarding how we are governed do you feel sorry for?
Its not just Sarah Palin's philosophy with which I agree. I am very much for a smaller federal government, states rights which are really meaningful, local control of local matters which affect and impact the people in a specific geographical area, less taxes in general but more taxes where needed for specifically identified areas that citizens can agree on. I could continue but, Geo, knowing you are an expansive thinker, I'm sure you get the idea. There are many other things I have mentioned numerous times such as term limits. Congress, in its present form is a disgrace, and yet nothing is done about it.
In regard to strong convictions there is nothing wrong with that. As I have said before, my wise, but uneducated father, use to say, " A wise man will often change his mind but a fool never does". I am not a fool, regardless of what some on this board may think. I am, however, very pragmatic and will only change my mind, philosophy and actions when shown good reason. At the federal level of government that hasn't happened and shows no signs of happening in the near future.
The fraud, waste and mismanagement in our government at all levels, but particularly the federal level, is devastating. Geo, do you now have an idea of my idea of how we should be governed? I realize I have not gotten into specifics. They are too numerous to go into here. If you are still at a loss as to what I feel there is nothing more I can tell you.

Why did I not expect any less from the majority on this forum? If you had $500,000 in lawyer fees facing you and you had been found not in violation of any of the 15 ethics violations brought against you, would you be slightly, no, greatly PO'd. Some, IMO, have absolutely no conception of what this country should be all about or what we really need. People like Sarah Palin do. Its time some realized what this nation is all about and "started "going forward, but in a different direction". Sarah Palin, whether you agree with her or not, epitomizes a person secure in their convictions and willing to follow them because they are sure they are right. Additionally, I really feel sorry for a lot of citizens in this United States and their attitudes regarding how we are governed, will be governed and have been governed in the past. It is time to change course, not look for "change" that is ill founded and useless.
she cut and ran
