Reactions to Obama's Health Care Plan

The American Medical Association has weighed in on the new health care plan being developed by the Obama Team.

The Allergists voted to scratch it, but the Dermatologists advised not to make any rash moves.

The Gastroenterologists had sort of a gut feeling about it, but the Neurologists thought the Administration had a lot of nerve.

The Obstetricians felt they were all laboring under a misconception.

Ophthalmologists considered the idea shortsighted.

Pathologists yelled, "Over my dead body!" while the Pediatricians said, 'Oh, Grow up!'

The Psychiatrists thought the whole idea was madness, while the Radiologists could see right through it.

Surgeons decided to wash their hands of the whole thing.

The Internists thought it was a bitter pill to swallow, and the Plastic Surgeons said, "This puts a whole new face on the matter."

The Podiatrists thought it was a step forward, but the Urologists were pissed off at the whole idea.

The Anesthesiologists thought the idea was a gas, and the Cardiologists didn't have the heart to say no.

In the end, the Proctologists won out, leaving the entire decision up to the a--holes in Washington.

Very succintly stated

Report: 3,500 Floridians are losing health coverage each week - OrlandoSentinel.com Report: 3,500 Floridians are losing health coverage each week
Estimates may be low, says consumer group

More than 3,500 Floridians are losing -- or dropping -- health insurance each week, according to a report released today by a Washington-based consumer group.

By the end of this year, 2.3 million Americans -- 185,000 of them Floridians -- will probably lose their insurance.

"We used to take health coverage for granted in this country," said Ron Pollack, executive director of Families USA. "But today, many families are at risk and many will fall into the ranks of the uninsured."

While job losses are accelerating the trend, the No. 1 reason for the growing tide of uninsured Americans is the high cost of health insurance, Pollack said. Pollack's organization is pushing for Congress to pass health-care reform legislation.

Between 1999 and 2008, the average annual family premium has jumped 119 percent -- from $5,791 a year to $12,680. Those rising costs, he said, have prompted employers to drop or reduce coverage they provide to their workers -- and have led many Americans to drop their insurance coverage altogether.

no problem....right?

Bob, are you working for Families USA? You are taking a perfect page out of their playbook:

How to play the Media

My favorite:

"Polling data consistently show that stories involving children elicit a powerful response."

"To shift the focus away from the complicated budget numbers and policy rhetoric...."

Let's ignore that this plan is an impending disaster for the country, and focus on the kids!

Corporate entitlements! We can all learn from this lesson. Small businesses will shift their models to save on paying taxes.....no different than credit card companies doing their shift to make up losses by increasing int. rates on good customers.

However, with cos. laying off more and in many cases converting employees to contract status, we all now know that insurance should be on our necks. Not the corporations to provide nor by the government.

I have stated this before: we do need reform, we do not need 'free' medical care.

I believe this shake up will provide exactly what is needed within the industry.

no, it's an article in the local paper. healthcare is and has been unaffordable for a large percentage of our population for years.

Right here!
Instead of saving the federal government from fiscal catastrophe, the health reform measures being drafted by congressional Democrats would increase rather than reduce public spending on health care, potentially worsening an already bleak budget outlook, the director of the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office said this morning.

Under questioning by members of the Senate Budget Committee, CBO director Douglas Elmendorf said bills crafted by House leaders and the Senate health committee do not propose "the sort of fundamental changes that would be necessary to reduce the trajectory of federal health spending by a significant amount."

"On the contrary," Elmendorf said, "the legislation significantly expands the federal responsibility for health-care costs."

Though President Obama and Democratic leaders have said repeatedly that reining in the skyrocketing growth in spending on government health programs such as Medicaid and Medicare is their top priority, the reform measures put forth so far would not fulfill their pledge to "bend the cost curve" downward, Elmendorf said. Instead, he said, "The curve is being raised."

One more Obama promise down the rabbit hole.

90% of our legal population currently have coverage or can afford it. You're promoting a "solution" to fix the other 10% that completely overhauls the entire system, including creating yet another government entitlement we can ill afford? Give me a break. You want solutions, so do I, but the current House bill is not it.
