wrobert is just a baiter, some might say a master at it, and will post something if he's bored just to get a reaction. I've seen him even flip flop in his own thread.

:rotfl:Very kind verbiage. But, it reminds me of my bigg brothers making prank calls to Master Bates.........

Agree.

and yes Ms Kitty, I do believe it is partly (maybe largely) the messenger because there is such a pattern as SWGB points out above. Otherwise the stuff is humorous. (not sure about the red chicklet though - but I can see the frustration on scooter's part.)

I would consider wrobert's thoughts more critically and read them more thoroughly if they were presented differently. But that is just me... :dunno:

More than once I've been called an idealist and a dreamer. Usually folks calling me names like that mean it as an insult, but I rather like such accolades. Without ideals and dreams, how do you have a vision for where you're going? Shoot for the stars, and even if you miss, etc.etc.etc

So. One of my dreams is that there could be a real or virtual (or both) place of civil public discourse, where people could hold informed and informative, respectful discussions -- meaningful exchange of opinion/information, and where people might spend at least some of their time hoping to understand or at least accept different points of view. Occasionally, I see that energy here, though often it gets murdered with the nastiness before it can really take off.

I keep trying, and whenever it gets mean and nasty, I have to evaporate. Not because I am scared, but because it is a waste of my precious time and energy. I also do what I can on the ground, working for positive change. I hope other idealists and dreamers among us will do the same!

Kindred spirits...
I seriously love talking politics, discussing, debating, trying on ideas, learning, exploring history and how other systems work, and even changing my mind about something/someone... but I rarely get a chance to do so. So many folks want to turn it into a contest or a battle, which is not my interest at all. The second it gets nasty, I'm out. I am just not interested in wasting my time and energy on ugly.

I have been called Pollyanna, always as an insult. I rather like it...

Agreed.

I've been called Pollyanna and I took it as a compliment, which further upset the 'angry,' who wanted to argue instead of discuss. ;-)

Well let me know if you ever need to borrow one of my many pairs of rose colored glasses; I have styles to suit every occasion. They do come in handy. I may change my name legally to Pollyanna, as she is one of my heroes.

I have just started reading a book called The Field, an ambitious effort to reconcile quantum physics, quantum mechanics and biology/chemistry with the larger commonalities of the world's great spiritual traditions. I am guessing that the picture I end up with after reading this may be that we create our own reality, and that we are all inextricably interconnected in the unified field. Can't wait to see how this one turns out!

Robert, you said that the liberals would be in a bad mood for the rest of the day. It is going on 4 days now.:yikes: Please refrain from mood assumptions in the future.

MK, I chicleted it a couple hours after he posted it - not days later. The only reason I started commenting in the thread days later was because WR sent me PMs and posted about it.

I was just frustrated because it seems like we can't have a civil discussion anymore - pretty sad in a small community and a non-election year.

I am having a real hard time seeing how Robert was "rude." He made an observation that liberals would not appreciate the video. Whether he was correct or not, that is far from nasty, unless calling someone a "liberal" is rude and nasty. I would not even consider that rude or nasty if you called ME that, though I might think you had taken leave of your political senses.

Robert was attempting humor, not trying to start a war. I do wonder if the "liberal" attacks and pettiness get equally "redded?"

liberal liberal liberal you're a liberal......hey you liberal boy over there. are liberals allowed over there? he was held back in class...too liberal. the liberal media is responsible for the misinformation....that family had no chance, they had liberal values......the liberal judge tried to legislate from the bench.....liberals usually hang out with socialists....socialists are liberal too. the liberals did not display their flag on july fourth, they are too liberal to support the troops....liberals like to spend other people's money and tax us to death....those liberals like those people who press 2 for spanish.....our founding fathers were not liberal....neither were their slaves....jesus was not a liberal, he just wore his hair long to confuse the romans....if you cast the first stone, well you're not a liberal.....liberals are the only folks capable of causing deficits....if liberals had their way, hitler, the north koreans the vietnamese, saddam hussein, bin laden, and your liberal neighbor with the obama bumper sticker would be running the world....liberal liberal LIBERAL!,
