Texas Has a ..... You Know the Movie

Anyone else watch this last week? This classic 1982 movie with Florida's Burt Reynolds and Country Star Dolly Parton is on again today and 7 p.m. tonight (Sunday, 7-26-09) on CMT. Based on a true story, in viewing for the first time in quite a while, I thought I was seeing some of SoWals political threads on film. :funn: "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" has a great cast and some of the songs will keep you humming. I would imagine that a lot of our Texas SoWallers will remember the real Marvin Zindler newscaster when this story broke. I bet a few even know where La Grange and the original Chicken Ranch is. The play ran for a long time in Houston, not sure where else. Has anyone ever spotted any of the cast here?

I jsut watched that movie last week!! When Sunkist was about 10, she loved that movie. My neighbor thought it was horrible that I allowed her to watch it. Hail, she didn't turn out so bad.

There are a lot of life lessons, great lines, tunes and dancing in this movie. "Lord have mercy on our souls" and "ooooo Dance a Little Sidestep" to name a few. I wondered about a few of Dolly Parton's songs. Did she sing them before or just during and after the movie? Yarmap, glad it didn't turn out to be another Chainsaw Movie. This movie makes many people . It hasn't been on TV in quite a while. Didn't catch why CMT was showing it the last few weeks.

This has been one of my favorites since I was a kid, too, and you could argue that I turned out okay, too! Of course, I've always had a crazy fondness for musicals that my peers could not understand...
