Right here!
I wonder what the demographics are? Are we losing the get rich quick types? (good riddance!) or are we losing mostly retirees. I'd bet it's more the former than the latter, our tax structure is far more favorable to these folks than states like Georgia, and North and South Carolina.

you have to consider the move ins as well as move outs...i've heard the largest number of move ins in sofla in the past several years have been those looking for "affordable" housing and service jobs. sofla is also in TIME Magazine again this week with another article on "paradise lost".

30AShopper, you can probably get a copy of the report (with all its charts and graphs:D) if you email the UF researchers. I am sure they considered the movein/moveouts...from what I have read from several sources, many of those leaving are the ones who have lost their jobs; and are younger; the retirees are leaving because they can no longer afford to live here because of the increase in the cost of homeowner's insurance..and property taxes (and probably electric bills!)

I don't know about the rest of you but I have no intention of leaving anytime soon unless its due to circumstances well beyond my control.
When I live in a place where I can go to a walkover in the morning and watch a sea turtle swim to within 20 ft. of the shore and then continue to meander around for about a half an hour, I consider it a place unlike any other on earth. Why in the world would anyone want to leave this paradise unless they had to do so? And I didn't even mention the dolphins, sharks, surfers, walkers and those on Yolo boards and in kayaks. What a place!

I certainly agree with Andy. Sad that some are having to leave--at the same time, fewer people make for less crowded classrooms and highways.
