I'm so glad to read this!

The Obama administration plans to change White House policy by releasing the names of thousands of visitors whose comings and goings traditionally are kept secret by presidents.
President Obama's announcement scheduled for today follows a lengthy legal review. The policy change would resolve four lawsuits filed by a watchdog group, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), against the Obama and Bush administrations seeking details on White House meetings.
Until now, Obama had followed the Bush policy of keeping visitor logs secret. News organizations and watchdog groups had sought to make the records public to show who was influencing administration policy on health care, financial rules and other issues

Great job, Mr. President!! Another step in the right direction.

this is what you call transparency? notice how the visitors up until this point wont be on that list ie rev wright etc etc etc. this means absolutely nothing with all due respect. the last thing this admin is is transparent and bipartisan............:rotfl:

transparency, in my opinion, would be to make the 1000 page bills in Warshington, be understandable to the general public, and the politicians, so we know WTF we are reading.

So true ... my thanks button unfortunately seems to be missing today. They should simplify the tax code while they are at it.

If we as normal people cannot understand the rules, they really should be thrown away. It is amazing that this Country was founded with guidelines written by lawyers, though fairly easy to understand, on one piece of paper. We have hundreds of thousands of pages of laws on the books about which we don't have a clue as to what most mean. That is bureaucracy. Government can be more simple than that.

I will agree there is much further to go, but this is a good start. I didn't really expect it after his initial responses to requests for guest lists.

I like to find happiness where I can. I am happy President Obama is going this route on releasing the information! :D

What is the big deal, really? It isn't like people don't already know who Obama is talking to, or who has been influencing him. Also, I am sure that in order for "national security" to be kept, the list can be edited at the President's discretion.

ive just read into this and this stems from a lawsuit from a private organization that started under bush. this has nothing to do with the obama admin wanting to be transparent yet they will no doubt use those pretty words and make it appear as such.....
