This is the kind of opinion journalism we can expect from future writers? This represents journalistic integrity of the highest degree? This is the level you strive to achieve in your writing? If so I weep for the future of journalism in this country.

30A why are you offended? The writer didn't criticize sanctimony and fake outrage.

The article was backhanded slap in the face of all the people the writer hates, veiled in some sort of "step above it all" lesson for life. The purpose was to give passing to the writers insults, nothing more.

Please don't complain the next time someone posts a chain letter denigrating you or people you know on this board if you're going to defend tripe like this.

No, it used a current topic to make a point. It probably wouldn't have used your poor little beleaguered group if they weren't running around talking about death panels, socialism, and the POTUS not being a native citizen.

I know it's hard, but your 2000 years of majority are quickly coming to an end. Get over it and embrace the minority or you'll just die of high blood pressure.

I represented for years the "Mayor" of the French Quarter. He won the the Easter Bonnet contest. We're talking about a seriously flamboyant dude. He felt no need to compel me or others to worship his gayness, nor did he discuss religion or lack thereof (and I felt no need to inquire). I'm ok that you're gay and agnostic, alright? Do you really need me to "embrace" it for you to feel better about yourself?

I've used option #3 six times on this thread alone!!!

ME too! It's taking all I can do to ignore the outrageous jibberish.

What's not to get? The far right's days are over, honey. You had your chance and you ran this country into the ditch fiscally and morally. Now get outta the way so we can try to regain some credibility in the rest of the civilized world and get our country back on the path of reasoned integrity. Fear and superstition won't work anymore. You'll have to try something else other than thumping the bible and wrapping yourself in the flag.

OK so I don't always succeed in ignoring the simplistic rage.

Right here!

I just can't believe anyone would defend this as quality journalism, I'd think you'd have better luck defending the spam in my inbox.

Clearly this article resonated with people here. I wonder if it was the intolerance, negativity, and insults that resonated rather than the mediocre point the author tried to pawn off as justification for publishing it? You don't see me championing points in the lastest email birther spam post do you, so I think I will stay sanctimonious, thank you very much.

I'm not really sure what you are talking about. Until now there's been no discussion of homosexuality.

My point was that white christians are losing their majority and it seems to be scaring the hell out of them. Minorities have traditionally used fear as a rallying tool and that seems to be the case in America today.

Whoa, are you trying to say that SWGB is a homosexual? How in the hell did I miss that one, all this time I thought he was just happy to be here. I've got to pay more attention, what clues did I miss?
