Mexican on Christmas Eve sounds great. Feliz Navidad before I go to church, but I'll bet they're all closed here. Might have to fly to DD's.

Varies year to year. This year, New Years Eve. BBQ I smoke with peacan wood & Ham smoked with hickory. Lots of whisky 'cause there's lots of inlaws. Smoke a little, drink a little. What ever it takes.

my thoughts exactly

hey cp - I like the stocking..:D

we eat all the way through the holiday thank you very much. but, I guess the main meal is usually Christmas Day. Christmas Eve is too much fun to run around and see friends and family, then home to settle in and get tucked in so Santa can come - and then never leave the house for days. Christmas day is a big breakfast. then usually a big dinner that night. I have waited til the next day to do the big Christmas dinner (or the day after that) - sometimes we are just wasted (tired) from all the excitement of Christmas. and sometimes we have family coming in after Christmas so we have to do the big dinner again...

so it just depends I guess!

Hey, Tootsie. We're eating our way through Christmas, too. My Mom likes to make soup for Christmas Eve. I've got a turkey and a primerib ready to go for the following days. My son is arriving from Dallas with his family, so we'll have the turkey ready for them when they arrive. Will see how schedule goes for when we do prime rib. Will eat out, too, along 30A. A full week of eating at home and out between Christmas and New Year's Eve. But, DD, I'm missing me some of those Dallas tamales.

hey DuneLaker - I was thinking of doing a turkey during the holidays since I did not get to do my own during thanksgiving (we traveled to family).

If you happen to use my BEEF Arista recipe posted elsewhere on this message board, I accidentally used the cooking directions for the original PORK Arista. With beef you need to preheat to 500 degrees and cook at 400. Also if using a whole tenderloin, we've decided that we will double the rosemary/garlic/salt/pepper next time.

Oh, and the pancakes. We prepared the recipe that daugher always uses, Alton Brown's "Instant Pancakes" from foodnetwork. Just divine with choice of blueberries, bananas, chocolate chips, and pecans (toppings plagiarized from Hibiscus  ). And turkey bacon cooked on the big All-Clad grill pan tastes better than pork bacon. We had that side-by-side with the big All-Clad griddle for the pancakes. After four years I am stlll amazed by how much better food tastes when cookes on my Wolf gas cooktop.

My beef tenderloin is in the oven right now as we speak. Also mashed potatoes, green beans, cucumber salad, homemade dinner rolls, lime squares and Ghirardelli brownies for dessert, espresso (with my new espresso maker ;-))

And it's snowing!!
