Dangitall, Y'all! I need your help. The item I just didn't win, the seller emailed me and said she has another one that she will sell for my max bid. Think I should negotiate? How do these people have so many of these items anyway?

It sounds like you were bidding against the seller's sock puppet Lynnie and they won by mistake trying to get your bid up! Unless its a very unique item, I would tell them no thanks!

ps What was it, if you don't mind my asking? You got me curious! ;-)

DTI, I think you and SWGB are right. It's a very warm jacket. I might let her sit on it for a minute and then negotiate even more fiercely.

Try responding with "I got carried away and really can't afford my high bid. Thank goodness I didn't win. Would you by any chance take $___ for it?"

Good luck!

I've been selling on eBay since 99 and I also buy of course. I agree with what's been said and the advice you got from the forum.

One strategy I have is to NEVER bid until the last minute. IF I bid early it just makes the other bidders know that someone else is out there wanting the item and it usually ends up costing more that way. If you act disinterested and POUNCE it often pays off.

Good luck!

G

I do as Gidget. I put the item on watch, I know what my max to pay is and if anytime during the watch it goes above that, I take it off watch.

If it is below my max, I watch and make my offer at the very last minute.

I would not deal with this person, they are in violation of Ebay policy.

Ebay General Rules:
We don't allow our members to use eBay to contact each other to make offers to buy or sell items outside of eBay. Also, members can't use information obtained from eBay to contact each other about buying or selling outside of eBay.
