My perfect beach
They may still use ebay for the sale, Minnie. I've bought and sold after the bidding expired, but still paid ebay their cut on the sale. My understanding is that's allowed.

As long as they are using Ebay to handle the sale, yes you can. Since Lynnie was bidding and did not get the bid, she should have been given a Second Chance offer from the seller. If she did not, then the seller is not acting within the guidelines.

Per Ebay Guidelines:

Some examples of activities that aren't allowed include:
  • Using member contact information obtained from eBay or using any eBay system to offer to sell any listed item outside of eBay

Canceling a listing to sell to a buyer who found the item on eBay

Ending a listing early to sell the item to the winning bidder a price higher than the current bid
When you send a Second Chance Offer, the bidder receives a message asking if they’d like to buy the item at a Buy It Now price equal to their last bid amount. It’s up to the buyer to decide whether to accept the offer.

Decide your max, enter it, and forget it. Unless you are in it for the sport.

A woman after a garment works a little differently.

G,

As a seller, can you see a buyer's max or know there has been a max entered? I didn't try until the last 8 min., but this one person had been outbidding several others.
Seller got back to me to buy so this one is interesting. Thanks!!

I have bought after an item expired only because no one placed a bid and I forgot, using the same strategy to bid in the final minutes. Seller was understanding, relisted and I bought. Totally legit......I think.

:dunno:

If find something I want I never bid on it. I log into my esnipe account and post my bid info. I fire and forget and seldom lose.

Agreed. I've used Auction Sniper for several years, even bought a car on Ebay with it. The software allows you to set your high bid to automatically be placed during the final seconds of an auction, catching the other bidders off-guard so that they don't have enough time to react.

The software is free and so fast that the average Ebay bidder could never place a bid as quickly.

No the seller can't see the max bid a person makes either - they just know no one has matched the bid.

Good luck!
