A Good Year has Russell Crowe who meets and pursues a beautiful woman in southern France. How much more romantic can you get? yes, it was only a side story but STILL. Russell Crowe!!!!!!!
and Brokeback Mountain was a unique love story which I totally loved and appreciated - and features Heath Ledger!!!!
the love story is not unique in life, but it is very unique on film - which is what blew me away and made me think about gay men and women and how their lives must have been over the last centuries and more. imagine being gay, or ending up in a gay relationship (whether you are gay or not), back in the 50s - out west. you are asking for a killing. this is still not so far from reality in today's world in some places - in this very country. so, while I loved the love story part - I also loved how it made me really think about all the others in this world who have secretly loved, suffered and even died for love.
