Me: Yes, I seem to be having a problem with my phone. Calls either won't go through at all or get dropped a few seconds in. I'm even having problems with text.

AT&T: I'm sorry about that, Miss Critter. The phone you're calling about is registered in Northwest Florida; is that right?

Me: Yes. . .

AT&T: Well, ma'am, there was an alien invasion there last night, and it seems their mother ship is causing problems with our signal towers. We believe there may be some sort of telepathic interference, as well. But we're working on our 4G coverage, and by November alien invasions should no longer be a problem. Talked to a friend at Sprint, they've had COWS in place for the last two weeks, South Walton will be getting one this week.

COW=Cell tower on wheels. Basically it's a satellite link to supplement areas during high call volume.

I have been shopping rental sites this week and found slow service there as well...can't figure that out either...and we were wondering about 3G network for our trip as to whether we needed to worry about a house with wifi. Guess you guys answered it.

We were in Panama City today and it was spotty. I do think the volume might have an effect. There are a million teens on the coast armed with cellies.

I'd venture a guess that many of the spring breakers in South Walton are iPhone (AT&T) users, and that is why AT&T is clogged.

If you are coming on a "regular week" (not holiday weekend/peak spring break), it sounds like it won't be a problem.

Just walk through Seaside- they are all walking while Iphoning. Be extra mindful as they veer into the street quite a bit.
