I have a friend who is undergoing treatment -- does anyone know of a support group; or any help that is available for someone who has no family in the area.
Friends and neighbors are helping, but sometimes, there is need for some additional help with shopping, transportation to appointments, house cleaning, etc.
Thanks.

The only support group I'm aware of is for breast cancer patients at Sacred Heart. It is more for emotional and physical support vs. the kind of help patients may need on a daily basis. I know several sowallers that have formed a "team" whether they knew the individual or not, and given them a list of names of locals that are willing to help with errands, appointments, etc. Let me know if you decide on that approach.

Yes, that is all I could find too. I am hoping she will get involved with that group, and maybe from that, she could find others who might have the flexibility to help out. Any information you have, I'd love to pass along to her. So far, friends and neighbors have helped, but I would like for her to have some back-up, just in case. Send me a PM if you want. Thanks

I'm sorry that your friend is going through cancer treatment -- it really is a horrible disease!

Has your friend contacted the American Cancer Society Office in FWB? Their number is 244-3813. They have many programs and she can hopefully get some assistance through them.

Good luck to her!

Don't livein the area but have moved through the breast cancer experience over the past year. Was dx'd a year ago this week. Underwent surgeries, chemo and radiation . Curently undergoing follow up with my docs as am 6 mo. post radiation. If your friend has access to email and would have any interest in talking with someone who has been down the road, let me know. Sometimes just knowing someone who shared the experienced or someone who has, hopefully, emerged successfully, from the Valley of the Shadow of Death, helps. I loved my docs but since they had never sat in the chemo chairs I found it helpful to speak with those who had...All my best to your friend...Jennie
