Historically, Newt has more political friends and contacts, and thus more pull in Ga.-- makes sense to me. Thought it would be a stronger lead though.

The last poll I saw (and I check AJC.com daily for ATL/UGA sports) had Handel leading but still within the margin of error.

Karen Handel lost by 2,400 votes and is not requesting a recount. She has conceded to Nathan Deal. I am thinking I don't like him, but certainly not wanting Roy Barnes back in. Oh well~~~~~~

I voted for Karen. I can't believe she didn't ask for a recount. Nathan Deal really annoys me -- he seems condescending.

We spent several days at a GTMA meeting at Amelia, and Roy was there. We enjoyed hanging out with him on the club level at the Ritz. Nice guy, but I don't agree with many of the things he did as governor the first time.

Everything Roy Barnes is talking about is higher taxation. First and foremost, we need a solid control over the budget at the State level and then a trickle down to local.........more taxes will do more damage in this State with unemployment hovering over 10%.

How else is he going to be able to pay for all the school teachers union votes? ;-)

I know. I wasn't gong to mention the teachers because I am such a huge advocate. I hate to say it, but unless they cut back on unnecessary items in the schools (prioritize), teachers are going to continue to take the brunt of this.......oh, and the tax payers. I will pitch an absolute hissyfit if Roy Barnes becomes our next Guvna.

He dissed the teacher's union the last time he ran and got bounced as a direct result of it. To say that he will be pandering to them between now and November is an understatement. He can't make that mistake again.
