Republican U.S. Senate candidate Marco Rubio, a former Florida House Speaker, and House District #7 Republican Representative Marti Coley are being touted as "especially helpful" for delivering the funding for the new luxurious $48 million First District Court of Appeals building in Tallahassee.

However, getting "credit" for a palatial structure some call the "Taj Mahal'' courthouse isn't something they want --especially in a year when Republicans claim to be more conservative than Democrats with taxpayer dollars. Read more

Right here!
Man, denials all around. This "I didn't know squat" excuse is complete b.s., when your talking about 50 million in taxpayer funds going to granite countertops for judges, you should know about it.

Meanwhile Walton County's courthouse needs to make cuts and operate understaffed. We deserve who we vote for, and there are plenty of useful idiots that will buy the bill of goods that the 'R' candidate must be the fiscally prudent choice. Is there a botox/waxing suite in the courthouse to serve some of the funding heroes?:dunno:

Just proves the point that we need to vote for the candidate. . .not the party. Marti Coley aligns and votes with the House leadership and not with her consitituents. In her 7 years as a representative, she has offered little legislation, and when the issue of near shore drilling came up -- well, her leadership was painfully absent, and we had no one in the Florida House representing the Emerald Coast's point of view.

This is the key. We might as well have nobody in that seat if it going to be her.

I can't even fathom why anyone who lives on the coast would not vote for David Pleat- there is finally candidate that will represent the coast.

Is it any wonder that the woman has raised a ton of campaign cash and the vast majority comes from outside the district? It seems that outside interests are the only ones willing to pay for her status quo. I wonder why...?:dunno:

Sorry to double post, but wasn't she the driving force behind the legislation to rename Grayton Beach State Park resulting in some minor temper flaring among the park pioneers? And you say she doesn't do anything for her district;-)

Aside from a very vocal disagreement with near shore drilling, what does Pleat stand for, and how will he represent the coast? We have a track record in Coley, we have very little info on Pleat. He's done a lousy job of communicating his views. (For example his positions page on his web site hasn't changed in months, and has little info on it.)

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a huge fan of Coley, but I honestly do not have a clue what we might be getting in Pleat, except his stance on near shore drilling, which is a pretty moot subject at this point.
