National Security Advisor Steps Down

Senior advisor for National Security for President Obama,General James Jones steps down and gives 2 weeks notice.
Another Obama appointee leaves the administration.Things are not going well in Afghanistan and this might be an indication that Obama is not listening to his advisors.

It's almost like someone went in there without any sort of plan.

McChrystal wanted an additional 50,000 men but was talked down to 40,000. Unbelieveably, it took Obama three months to make a decision, and when he did, he approved only 30,000.

I get that nobody wants us to be there, but we are. The numbers requested were based on needs in the field. The numbers provided were based soley on politics. The three month delay and the reduced number only served to make it more difficult for those already there.

So, I beg the question...

Who had the plan?

Both did. One man's was to finish the job assigned to him in the fastest manner possible. The other man's was to placate his constituency.

Let's not shift the blame to the current administration that inherited this problem. We have the strongest, most capable, and well equipped military in human history, but we can't conquer a country that pretty much does it like Alexander the Great in less that 10 years?

It seems to me that the original unwritten plan was to become entrenched and never leave.

You are probably right, but there was a "plan" in play. May not have panned out like they wanted, but there was a plan.

Afghanistan is the war that Obama supports(supported) and most Americans supported(support).Obama would not and cannot say the words"troop surge" but he knows it was the smart move as it worked in Iraq.Obama hired Bush's general Petraeus(another wise decision).Things are bad because it is war and war is never easy,especially in that terrain and intel is not easy to collect because of the locals (scared for their lives for retribution) after the Americans leave.Obama has absolutely no experience with war or the military....sooooooo,he needs to listen to the advice of his advisors and Generals.We as Americans need to be successful,it will be long and tough as it already has been but Americans have to have resolve and determination or this will be "Obamas War."
I want Obama to be successful in Afghanistan but he has to listen and heed the advice given to him,it is the best for our troops and our country.
I am looking foward to McChrystals book.
