He is now on his SECOND fraud investigation - new company, new decade, same old Rick.

The current investigation/allegations into Medicare fraud involve Solantic which Scott started in 2001.

The old record setting Medicare fraud and fines were with Columbia/HCA in the 90s.

I believe the investigation was handed off to Health and Human Services for review because it was a federal, not state issue.

One of the allegations was that Medicare was repeatedly billed the full amount for physician visits done by nurse practitioners (instead of a physician), instead of the standard 85%.

Another was that they had them perform unnecessary tests and write unnecessary and $$ prescriptions.

I am making the assumption that you know what this is.

Andy A--this is just for you: Pleading the 5th once or twice I could understand in a criminal investigation.., but over 70 times!!!!....even pleading the 5th when asked if his actual, given name was "Richard L. Scott", and also pleading the fifth when he was asked simply what his position was within in his own company at the time? Did this cause you any moments of doubt?

Let us get real here, Andy--wouldn't even your wise, but uneducated father, question this guy's basic integrity?

The guy is bottom line, a scumbag--cast your vote for him if you so wish--it is a free country.

The truth would have hurt him? He's lucky he could plead the fifth; it kept him out of jail, where he belongs for committing fraud. I'm a registered Republican, but I'm not voting for this guy.

From what I gather, it seems that no one is basing their vote in this particular race on the fundamentals of either Scott or Sink. Votes are being based on values, and both of them smell a little fishy. I'm sure many people will simply stick to their party for this vote. Where is the "I vote against all candidates" button?

Why is it so difficult in politics to find someone honest, intelligent & hard working, who sincerely works every day to do what is best for the constituents? Someone who has served on a few boards of publicly traded companies once told me that being a board member is not that hard as long as you pretend that John Q. Stockholder is sitting by you watching every decision that you make.

Did it ever occur to anyone that Rick Scott used the 5th because he did not wish to assist the federal government in the pursuit of a case in which they did not have any proof of his personal wrongdoing? If the federal government, with all its resources, cannot build a case, why should a witness, any witness, help their cause? When you use the 5th when asked your name, you are doing one of two things. Making a mockery of the court or showing you are not going to assist the prosecution in their efforts. Take your pick.

But those in politics, especially those that are not in leadership have very little say when it comes to policy. Jimmy Patronis and Marti Coley are 2 such folks. Although I like them both the issue is they will vote Party over doing what is right. Marti has taken heat in the past from the leadership for not being on board with all there policies but I don't think Jimmy has ever voted against leadership.

So, obstruction of justice is OK if you might get convicted? The government proved it's case that fraud was committed. Because Scott was willing to plead the fifth seventy five times, they were unable to convict him. He hid his trail very well. But even the board of directors didn't believe his innocence, did they. Why else would they fire a perfectly innocent man?

I don't get it. If any other human being on this planet took the fifth, over seventy times, you would be hollering "he's guilty of something!", but if Rick Scott does it, he's doing it as an honest protest against the government? That's a joke.
