Weather in late August?

We are planning on coming down Aug 27th thru Sept 3rd this year. We usually come down in June or July so this will be our first trip this late in the summer. Can someone tell me what the average water temps are during the last week in August? How does the weather compare to June & July? Thanks in advance.

It varies. This past year the water was really not all that refreshing to get into it was so hot. Of course we hadn't really had any tropical events (hurricanes and tropical storms) that generally cool it off.

If your afraid of it being cold don't worry about that, unless an iceberg drifts into the gulf you'll be fine.

Water will be very warm and air temps very hot. June always seem hot compared to spring and I stop myself from complaining when I think of what is to come shortly.

That is the time we visit every year, 15 +. It is hot and very nice as the crowds are not around until Labor Day weekend. The water is so warm!! The only issue is tropical storms/hurricane concerns. Often they loom in the forecast,but have only seriously bothered our vacation two times.
You will love it if you like lots of hot sunny days!

If you like to swim in humidity, come on down! Sowal is beautiful anytime of year, but August and January are my least favorite months. Just my HO.

Wadecool, we come down the end of August every year. Weather is nice, water is nice, you don't have near the crowds. As a matter of fact, we will be down the exact date you will this year. I haven't paid attention to it being really hot as it was so miserably hot here this past summer, hotter than down there.
