Just talked to some folks who live on Greenbriar on the McQuage Bayou. He said they saw the fire in the bayou and called 911 to report. Took a long time for responders to arrive on scene. The fire burned through the sawgrass and into their yard. They had to get out of their house, but think the house is ok. He reports that he is now a couple of streets over. Says fire is not contained, but that he didn't think it had blown into Grayton Bayou s/d yet. Says it burned into Bay Magnolia s/d side of McQuage Bayou also. Wind has been blowing strongly out of the east all day, so this should push fire westward unless the winds shift. Fortunately, there are some wide roads for the fire to have to jump, but with this wind or shift in wind, anything is possible. Hot ashes can blow in the wind and jump start new fires.
Reminder: close your windows to keep out any smoke.
Helicopters are still flying and I could only see smoke in the Bayou when coming down E Pt Washington Rd. That's all I know.
