Pt. Washington has all the funn...............:dunno:

We sure do. I have about enough fun for awhile.

Will stayed close in case he needed to get the animals out- we were at work. Our house is very wet now thanks to sprinklers, and he kept us posted with reports- he would bike around the corner and talk to the fire dept. then call me. Anyway, we are home, fire supposedly contained, but I am not going anywhere until the soaking rain kicks in later.

Waaayyy too much excitement. But I did get to say hi to some neighbors and friends.

Keep your eyes peeled neighbors. It was our neighbors' sharp eye when out for a walk that saved our property years ago - after a forest fire in Pt Wash was declared "all clear". The fire spread rampantly via forest floor and was nearly devastating - many acres of trees and marsh grass lost.. our home within inches of being lost. Finally Forestry was brought in to dig trenches to contain the fire. Sounds like Forestry is on the scene already - sounds like things are going as they should.

Just left Mac Farms. Small fire still in the grass across the water. SWFD on both sides keeping an eye on it. The rest of the bayou seems to be burned out.

Murray, I cried to think "my Silverleaf house" would be lost.

Does anybody know the current status of the hot spots?

Today was a total reality check for me- I did not have all of our important documents updated and in one place in case we needed to get out fast. I usually do this for the start of hurricane season, but I keep forgetting that fire seems to be more of a danger here than hurricanes!

Same here Jenny. I am still realing from the fact that I don't have my sh*t together. My whole business life depends on having backups off site and a plan for what to do /where to go with my zoo if a need arises.
and hurricane season is fast approaching. TIME to reorganize!

Mine's never been organized...probably should do that. I'm waiting for the 100-year flood.

I drove around Bay Magnolia and Grayton Bayou subdivisions this morning. Everything is still smoldering. The firefighters did a GREAT job! Some fences and docks were lost, but no homes. The fire line was right up against 8 or 10 houses. Close call!

I melted a flip flop taking pictures this morning. Amazed that it skirted so many houses without catching any of them.
