I would just like to see The Donald release his hair and let it fly where it may. The origin of his hair is more bothersome than Obama's birth place.

I don't know why he doesn't just stiffen that hair up with some goop, pull it way forward, and use it as a visor to block the sun.

Read the article at: How conspiracy theorists think - War Room - Salon.com
by Justin Elliot, who has studied these things.

Here's a quote from an interview of Elliot:

Did you ever have success disabusing anyone of their conspiracy theory?

Not once. The reason is that when you debate a conspiracy theorist it's like challenging an NFL football team to a game. Because conspiracy theorists have spent their lives memorizing every single detail necessary to win an argument. Even if you have the facts on your side in an abstract way, you're not going to win an argument if you have to go look at Google or go to the library to rebut every single point. They have hundreds of little confusing bits of information that they can throw at you. Even if you bat away 99 of them, the 100th, if you don't repute it immediately, they'll say, "Ah ha! There's an anomaly that you can't explain." The way they define the terms of the debate is that they just have to get you on one point, and then they have destroyed the validity of the conventional narrative.

The second thing is, it's a cult. And you can't disabuse a cult member of their beliefs, because it's central to their identity. Hardcore conspiracy theorists are attached to their conspiracy theories with the same force of conviction that religious adherents are attached to their religions. You can't rationally convince someone not to be a Christian or a Scientologist. That's their identity, that's who they are.

This sounds like something i once read about people with narcissistic personality disorder. They will lie to you about something right to your face that is blatantly untrue to your own eyes at the very moment. Finding out they are wrong is something they don't take kindly to. It's much more important for them to assert their beliefs than accept the truth.

For the record I have not been on the "birther" bandwagon, but I don't think those who do are so much racist as disgusted and grasping any straw that opposes Obama. And you could be a full scale birther and still be libertarian. Libertarianism is a political philosophy that upholds individual liberty, especially freedom of expression and action.[1] Libertarianism includes diverse beliefs and organizations–all advocate either the minimization or the elimination of the state, and the goal of maximizing individual liberty and freedom.

What in that definition prohibits someone from questioning whether the President is a citizen or not?

A rational thought process is supposed to be a feature of Libertarianism. The repeated questioning in the face of overwhelming evidence indicates that rational thought has been exterminated.

If there is anything sadder than the birthers it is all the liberals raising cain about the birthers. I guess ya'll don't want to talk about bailouts, deficits, 14 trillion in debt, bombing Libya and the fact that ole Barry lied to you about Guantanamo, getting out of Bush's wars, etc.

Doesn't appear that the RePubs are interested in those discussions either. The majority of CONservative articles recently have been on the birth certificate. Less you also forget that your birthers are from the whitey righty side off the fence...

Now that the birth certificate has been released, there are now "transcripters" who are demanding to see Obama's transcripts in order to see his grades. That is just ridiculous (in the old meaning of the word, not the new meaning where ridiculous=awesome).

And I am a Republican. :bang: Maybe I should change "am" to "was."

I am a Republican but I certainly do not agree with every act of every other Republican. IMHO all of this discussion about certificates and transcripts is plain stupid on the Republicans part and an attempt to divert attention from the real issues on the Democrats part. The man was elected, so what grade he made in pre-algebra is irrelevant. Maybe it was relevant before the 2008 election, but not now. What is very relevant are the policies he has implemented that are continuing to drive our country towards bankruptcy. I wish Trump would either get a grip on reality or crawl back under his hair.
