One of the happiest sounds ever, that of a sultry summer evening and the voices of cicadas filling the air. Thank you Kurt!!!

Here's something that was fun...

Open 5 or 6 of the more interesting bugs by right clicking on the link and opening it in a new window. When it loads, stop it. Once you get 5 or 6 ready to go start each one in quick succession so they all play at the same time! It sounds just like a summer night...

What a fantastic website! Favorite springtime song though has to be peepers... any day now! Love 'em.

The roar of the cicadas here in GA is making me feel like I have swimmer's ear and giving me a headache!

I heard the sound yesterday AM when I let the dog out. It scared her, and she didn't want to go out. I drove around and tried to figure out the source of the noise. It's everywhere. So I called the non-emergency police phone number, and a nice police officer told me it was cicadas.

I felt so dumb. I really don't remember ever hearing this sound, but apparently it happens every 13 years.

It is really "bugging" me. Even indoors. So I have earplugs on.

Cicadas, good; yellow flies, bad..... the little yellow devils have been REAL active in the Pt. Washington area the past two nights! Love the summer; hate being prey to predatory bugs.

BR - you really called the police? omc that is hysterical!!! So, city folk don't hear the cidacas often? never thought of that! I'm listening to them now, but its kind of low key at the moment. cicadas do tend to crank it up - you get used to it.

you should hear the frogs in the swamp in Pt Washington - you would absolutely not believe it. Deafening. Sometimes, they are so loud in the summertime you can't talk or hear others talk when you are sitting outside on the porch. but still somehow very wonderful. What a song of happiness.
