Depends on how you look at it, Ms. Meadows... Many local businesses and restaurants are saying this summer is absolutely wonderful...

Lord, I can't wait until South Walton incorporates and becomes its own little town, in charge of its own future.

Comm. Meadows was referring to the beach crowding/vendor issues, not the economic impact of the crowds on local businesses.

So, in effect, you are saying it doesn't really matter if there are serious issues on the beach because business is so good? I know that's not what you said, Jdarg, but isn't that the jist?

Huh? That's not at all what I said. I was trying to clarify Comm. Meadows' comments, which I took to be about the beach vendors/beach crowding being a problem this summer, not about local businesses and restaurants having a bad summer.

That was a typo. I was assuming business was booming. Full speed ahead. Is that not the case?

.

I would think that local businesses are doing very well this summer. This discussion was specifically about beach goers and beach vendors.

wow.. this has just to interesting not to comment. Sounds to me like the chair vendor (that was probably set up legally) set up in a place that didnt quite fit in to those perfect wedding photos that the planner had promised. SO...who's paycheck is more important??? that vendor that has a right to put chairs where his paying customers ask they be put or the wedding planner that forgot to inform her customers that the beach in that area is PUBLIC and not a "venue"?.
kinda reminds me of this.... wedding bomb.jpg

Finally, weeks later, this has been reported for all to see.

A vendor was attacked by members of a wedding party, including the bride, after inadvertently photobombing the wedding photos. The man was coming to pick up his rental beach chairs, which had been moved and stacked by the wedding planner and her crew, according to an offense report from the Walton County Sheriff's Office.
While he was moving the chairs, he showed up in the back drop of the wedding photos. Witnesses told deputies that words were exchanged before several members of the wedding party went to the vendor and "began beating on him," the report said.
At one point, according to the report, the bride joined the scuffle, ending up on the ground.
The vendor was able to escape the group long enough to get a filet knife from his truck, which kept the group back until deputies arrived.
Witnesses told deputies the vendor didn't threaten or approach anyone with the knife.
The vendor said he didn't want to press charges, he just wanted to be left alone, the report said. Witnesses confirmed he'd only been defending himself.
No charges will be filed.
