New locals sport: Photobombing the ever growing number of beach weddings.

These beach wedding planners seem to have a strong sense of entitlement. The beach, at least to the high water mark, is public.

I recently went to Henderson Beach State Park on a Saturday afternoon. All but one of the pavillions were taken by wedding parties, with music, catering, etc. And, no, you can't reserve pavillions between May 1 and September 30, so they just took over. If I had wanted to extremely rude, we could have just set up our picnic right in the middle of their party, but we did not.

Wedding planners need to be reigned in big time.

I dont want to tell these planners that they cant do business on our beautiful beaches, I just hope they AREN'T giving these people they plan "beach weddings" for, false illusions that they are completely in control of what happens on the beaches of SOWAL, south of the MHWL. If they want to be able to control things north of that, I suggest they purchase a monster house ON the beach. But dont plan an event in the middle of a public access and think its is going to be private.
I think that your "photobombing sport" could be a fun way to spend the upcoming fall months...hehehe..

Some people just need to get over themselves. We were in Notre Dame de Paris in early June, and they don't close the church there for most of their private weddings, they just rope off the center sanctuary area for the wedding party and guests. So we watched a couple (Best wishes to Manuel et Martine!) get married as us and like eighteen tour buses of Chinese and Japanese people circled the perimeter of the church, snapping their own pictures of the wedding and being part of the celebration themselves in between contemplating the architecture and art of the building.

If people down here can't deal with one lone beach vendor occupying the same public space during the exchange of vows, then they're got a massive problem.

Grayton Beach is not the place for a picture perfect wedding. Too many people nowadays. If you ain't laid back, go to Seaside or somehere they have controlled settings.

Exactly Dawn... the whole idea of beach wedding to me is relaxed, fun, take whatever comes.. (as Grayton has ALWAYS been). I honestly hope these people dont live out their marriage this uptight and controlling.

Perhaps Wedding Planners and other businesses need to have a Registration in SoWal, where there is some level of accountability? Most communities have a registration, license process to ensure compliance. Well, then again, this is Walton County and no one enforces anything anyway...

John G got it right! These are public beaches. For "profit" businesses should be registered and rules set in place as to what they can and where they can do it on the beach!
The Beach company at Ed Walline keeps on encroaching on "Public" beach areas.
He should have a set length or chair count on any single row and then begin to set up the 2nd row behind the first.
If you want a great spot at the beach, get up early!
Also we need more "Beach Patrols" that actually do something. Trash, Smoking, Dogs, etc...
Our beaches are being abused! Protect our best asset!
We should start "Beach Ambassodors @ every major beach access to info people or set up a better signage sytem stating the rules of the beach!

I just think its funny that now the media has reported the story and it almost matches the vendors story identically, and ironically none of the nay sayers are here to say, wow, I was wrong, Im sorry. They stand quiet as usual.
My profile name is NewPoster, and this is my first post with this user name. However I have lived here 8 years and I am extremely familiar with how the posters on here work. They attack with their opinion and when they are wrong you don't see or hear out of them. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Good Luck with that, they are NEVER wrong, they just move on to the next outraged mob squad.
