I am looking for a builder that has experience with mid-century modern homes. Need help-there are so many builders in the area.

There are quite a few builders in the area who can build anything. O'Shea Builders does a lot of concrete ICF. Arkon Group builds many of the cool modern homes in the area like the one across from the V Restaurant on the gulf.

What is the scale of your project - details?

I looking for something 2500-3000 square feet, one story, my budget is $500,000. I have not bought a lot yet. Just curious to what it would cost to build. Or am I dreaming?

We just built this large MCM beach home last year for a real estate investor. If interested in seeing more pictures or perhaps talking about building a MCM home on 30A give Jeff a call or text at 850 797 3382.

I would highly recommend Chandra Hartman, we have talked a lot about MCM design- she is a huge fan, but not many opportunities to build like that around here. http://cfhdesignstudio.com/
here is a MCM condo under construction on scenic 98 Destin on beach Across from Jetport in Destin (DTS). This is how described:

A Fresh Approach
According to the project’s architect, Walton Chancey, owner of Gulf Coastal Development, Inc., based in Tampa, there was a strong sense among everyone involved in developing the property that a fresh, new approach was needed to set 1900 98 apart from the most recently built condos along Destin’s gulf coast, many of which were constructed in the 1990s and early 2000s.

“We took a contemporary approach to the design of the building, but we were careful not to make it too ultra-modern for this area of the gulf coast,” he said. “The style is best characterized as Mid-Century Modern and in many ways it is reminiscent of Miami Beach designs from the 1950s and 60s.”

Architectural drawings of the building bear this out, showing a very streamlined exterior, open interior floor plans and walls of windows that bring the outdoors inside.

Does that budget include the lot?
That's going to be a challenging for a lot and the size of house you're looking for. Especially, south of the bay. A lot will depend on location and finishes and if you are going to need an architect to draw up plans.

Yes - you are dreaming. A 3000 sq. ft. house, one story. You would need a large lot. That would be expensive south of the bay. $200 - $250 per sq. ft. plus the cost of your lot. Good luck!
