Please note that nowhere on this wonderful graphic does it show stats of any of the TDC Beach Code Enforcement Officers.

Lack of Enforcement is and will remain a problem until these code enforcement officer start to issue actually citations and not just give verbal or written warnings each time.

Here's an example:

(Pulled from the Visit South Walton Beach Code Enforcement FY 2015 Summary)

Contacts for Glass on the Beach (ordinance 2013-04-22-54(d)

Total Contacts by all three officers - 1199

Total Citations Issued by all three officers - 2

Remember that Stat next time you step on glass on a SoWal Beach.

Those are totally unacceptable numbers for people who are paid a significant salary to Enforce Local Beach Ordinances.

I think better signage and sign maintenance at the public beach accesses would help.
I've lost count of the number of times I've been asked "can I bring my dog to the beach?"
or "can I drive on the beach?"

No thank you on more signs. Sign pollution is a serious issue in South Walton.

I agree, we have way too many signs that are just ignored.

Write tickets for every infraction and the beaches will be happier and cleaner places. Tourists know they will only get a warning if they break the rules.

Looks like Jim Bagby was running a tight and successful ship. Too bad Cecilia Jones ran him off. I suspect he'll run for county commissioner next time around and that will be a good thing. Remember the stats and accountability you see reported all occurred on Bagby's watch.

Maybe if he lives in Walton County.

First, NO more signs. They are everywhere, even on the boardwalks.

There's that pesky word again...Enforcement.

We have signs, we have rules, we have ordinances, yet No One with the leadership to Enforce any of it. You have to force officials to do there jobs through public shaming (spring break and WCSO at the Seascape meeting a few years ago), or you have to sue (wedding house case).

What are these people being paid to do? They are all paid to babysit.

Just like a sitter that waits for discipline (spank) given unruly child, until mommy gets home.

Problem is, there is no "mommy" in Walton.
The tourist rules the roost and can never be wrong.

Sad but true.
