Warning to Spring Breakers: "You do the crime, you will do the time."
By:Peyton LoCicero
Updated: Feb 26, 2019 08:32 AM EST

WALTON COUNTY, Fla. - The first wave of spring breakers will arrive before you know it...

"Treat my home like your home," said Mike Adkinson, Walton County Sheriff. "If you do that, you are going to have a wonderful vacation here in Walton County."

To college students looking to go wild in South Walton, Sheriff Adkinson warns, "...it will end poorly."

Right now, the beaches are empty but, that will change in less than two weeks. Spring breakers will take over the town but, that won't stop Walton County Sheriffs Office from enforcing their strict zero tolerance policy.

Spring break 2019 is expected to bring an influx of 200,000 people. One thing that will remain the same is, Walton County's party patrol. Deputies look for loud noises, underage drinking and public intoxication.

It's not just the beach where you will see a heavy law enforcement presence. There will be eyes on the roads too.

"I think the biggest thing from the last couple of years has been traffic," shared Adkinson.

Around 300 students were arrested during spring break 2018, ranging from high school students to college kids.

"During this time of year, we take a pretty pretty aggressive stance with it. Not because we are trying to ruin anyone's lives but, because we are trying to protect people and protect the quality of life."

To the parents, Sheriff Adkinson has this message.

Warning to Spring Breakers: "You do the crime, you will do the time."

I heard that bookings for Atlanta spring break week are way lower than last several years. Between owners pulling their properties that week, cheap flights from ATL to the Bahamas where nobody will get arrested for drinking, intolerable crowding of roads and restaurants and Sheriff Adkinson helping both kids and parents gain fame in the Atlanta newspapers for being arrested, things should be better this year:D

But Spring Break also means increased law enforcement presence and a slew of rules in place just for the month of March. As always, the following ordinances will be enforced with a “zero tolerance” policy.

1. No possession or consumption of alcoholic beverages on the sandy beach during the month of March. This includes all sandy beaches in Bay County, including sandy beach behind businesses like Spinnaker or La Vela. This also includes any type of alcoholic beverages, from hard liquor all the way down to a can of beer.

2. No possession or consumption of alcohol in commercial parking lots.

3. All alcohol sales end at 2 a.m. through the month of March.

4. No open house parties.

5. Parking in a closed business parking lot is prohibited.

6. Overnight scooter rentals are not permitted.

7. It is illegal to climb, jump from or throw things from balconies.

8. Parking is prohibited on unmarked or unpaved portions of the road after dark.
