I have been doing some math and maybe I am not to good at it but here it goes. Roughly 7.5 billion people in the world and roughly 30000 deaths from the Virus, that is .000004.
According to the numbers I saw this morning there were 30395 deaths out of 665985 confirmed cases worldwide.
In the US 103321 confirmed cases with 1668 deaths out of a population of 329 million
In Florida 4039 confirmed cases with 56 deaths out of a population of 21.5 million people.
In Walton County we have 15 confirmed cases with 0 deaths out of a population 68500.
Now I am not diminishing this virus by any stretch of the imagination and I am listening to the public health officials and following appropriate PPE guidelines at my work so I don't bring this home to my family. I support the concept of staying home and closing businesses although it sucks for the economy. But watching folks either over react to a confirmed case or blow the whole thing off is ridiculous imo. There is a balance and hopefully the numbers put it in perspective. Be smart and stay home, limit exposure and we will get through this.
Good point, but are these numbers reliable? Aren’t these numbers from tests done on people who are either already sick or the lucky few who received one by request? I’m not freaking out over this, but I would feel more confident if we had data from random testing across the entire country. I don’t trust the numbers from this administration anymore than they trust the numbers from China. Look at Italy’s stats. 92,473 cases with 10,023 deaths.

Italy stopped reporting influenza cases on February 9th and their Covid-19 case spiked shortly thereafter. Why did they stop reporting flu cases?

South Korea, 51,000,000 people is a country the size of Minnesota. They are on top of each other. And here in the Panhandle, all beaches are closed. Walton County mostly still rural county. Our economy is devastated and some of these restaurants will not reopen.

Is there a point you’re trying to make or did you just need to rant?

I don’t know because I have no evidence of that.

Perspective, comparison? If one is getting their public pension, why would they care if an entrepreneurial local business makes it?
Still confused, how the hell did you go from the virus to assuming you know anything about my opinion of local businesses?

Is this like if someone has health insurance why would they care if their neighbors are covered?
Entertain us some more and do food and shelter next.

My intent wasn't/ isn't to mislead. Florida DOH, CDC for US and this site for the World Coronavirus Update (Live): 711,418 Cases and 33,563 Deaths from COVID-19 Virus Outbreak - Worldometer.
