Fox is now considered too liberal so good luck communicating with people flocking to Parler, OANN, and Newsmax for their information.

So the Trump thing is funny. Apparently he called Rupert on Tuesday night when Fox News called Arizona for Biden, Trump went on profanity laced bender. The next day, with the exception of the prime time geniuses, Fox flipped the switch on Trumpy.

I understand that life is too short. Trust me I do. Stress is like a disease if not managed and it will kill us so I really do understand.

But here is the problem. If we do not bridge this divide our democracy will likely not make it because I am now convinced that republicans are no longer interested in a Democracy of we the people. Democrats moved away from the bible belt around Nixon and republicans being the opportunist they are picked up the bible belt. The bible belt is never going to accept other religions or non- religious people, social change, racial or gender equality, income equality or any other equality UNLESS we give them reasons beyond good conscience. They are comfortable with status quo because of course it gives them advantages and in addition it is much easier to just follow. When you look at the demographics and geography of this divide there is a lot more bible belt red than open minded blue and those colors are not going to change a whole lot no matter whether we have a good President like Obama or a bad President like Trump. So something is going on beyond electing a democrat or republican. It is not a movement but more like a visceral reaction to too much change in social and institutional norms. Just in my family I have had to adjust to a lot of change and if I were "religious" I can certainly understand the fear. To be honest I probably will not ever fully understand gender identity, homosexuality, transgender, sexual orientation and queer or questioning. Fortunately I am a spiritual person who learned how to live and let live from my grandmother. Anyway no question there has been a lot of social change for one generation. Instead of accepting the words written in red Christians seem to be falling back to the Old Testament values where sacrifice, fear and social structure are prevalent. It is easy for us to throw hypocrite darts at religious people but we need to stop. I do understand that following a man like Donald Trump is almost unforgivable and definitely stressful to many of us who clearly see the hypocrisy. The problem is that "religion" is a unified institution. Democrats do not have a unified bunch like that. If we believe in Democracy and willing to make sacrifices for democracy then we must come to terms with building a bridge to the bible belt republicans. I listened to a Democratic Party leader say on NPR that democrats have allowed republicans to beat them in door to door campaigning. We democrats must not wait until the next election to get our message out but even before that happens we have to find a unifying element in our message. I think that it needs to be "follow the awareness of our natural changing world and in doing so we will find that connection to a spiritual presence or energy that connects us together for the purpose of a greater good". Whatever the message it needs to connect us to each other not separate us. If we try to convince a Trump supporter that we democrats are just better than you then how do you think they will react? Our United States of America and the great experiment of democracy will only succeed with "unity". It is not complicated. We either find a way to unite for a common purpose or sit back and complain about how the other side is a hypocrite and watch our democracy fail. It seems that we may be at the beginning of the end of the great experiment because we are so divided but it is not yet decided...

If my own mother was a Trump supporter, I would piss on her grave.

Agenda clearly stated. However unless you were abused by your mother I doubt that statement is sincere. Even if you were abused I would not believe you. I here that sort of resistance on both sides. We are clearly divided and both sides believe they are on the right side of truth. I hear you but you have no solution to a very big problem that affects more than just you. The republican solution is to take away your democracy and you are saying "go ahead because I don't care enough to do more than type in a forum or mark a ballot or threaten to piss on something". Either you believe in democracy or you don't. If you don't you just as well be a republican. But I think you care. So while those kind of short reactive statements are funny they don't really do anything. Human life has been sacrificed for our Democracy so please do not tell me life is too short. All we have to do is be respectful to that other side. You know, treat them like you want to be treated. How hard is that? Okay it's hard but not like giving your life hard. Democracy inherently means that you are part of something bigger than yourself. So don't be like the self centered republicans who have become my way or the highway. Lets find common ground from which to build a bridge and save our democracy!

My son is an Eagle Scout and I was an assistant leader. My son became the scout master to his son who is also an Eagle Scout. This is a story used as a lesson we both taught the scouts many times over the years and it’s a lesson we should all learn. Simply substitute republican for rattlesnake.

A little boy was walking down a path and he came across a rattlesnake. The rattlesnake was getting old. He asked, "Please little boy, can you take me to the top of the mountain? I hope to see the sunset one last time before I die." The little boy answered "No Mr. Rattlesnake. If I pick you up, you'll bite me and I'll die." The rattlesnake said, "No, I promise. I won't bite you. Just please take me up to the mountain." The little boy thought about it and finally picked up that rattlesnake and took it close to his chest and carried it up to the top of the mountain.

They sat there and watched the sunset together. It was so beautiful. Then after sunset the rattlesnake turned to the little boy and asked, "Can I go home now? I am tired, and I am old." The little boy picked up the rattlesnake and again took it to his chest and held it tightly and safely. He came all the way down the mountain holding the snake carefully and took it to his home to give him some food and a place to sleep. The next day the rattlesnake turned to the boy and asked, "Please little boy, will you take me back to my home now? It is time for me to leave this world, and I would like to be at my home now." The little boy felt he had been safe all this time and the snake had kept his word, so he would take it home as asked.

He carefully picked up the snake, took it close to his chest, and carried him back to the woods, to his home to die. Just before he laid the rattlesnake down, the rattlesnake turned and bit him in the chest. The little boy cried out and threw the snake upon the ground. "Mr. Snake, why did you do that? Now I will surely die!" The rattlesnake looked up at him and grinned, "You knew what I was when you picked me up."

No I don't buy it because I hear the exact same thing from the other side. They tell the exact same story. Neither side will come together because they are absolutely certain the other side is trying to hurt them. Real people have given their life for this democracy and to just give up on it now seems weak and lazy. All it takes is respect. It's just words for goodness sake. "I think you are a socialist. Thank you for your opinion but I respectfully disagree. I am just trying to be a good human and think of society as a community of people helping one another and just want to do the right thing just like you." or "I think you are a racist bigot. Thank you for that opinion but it is just not true. I am just trying to protect my family, my religion, my culture and my freedoms and do the right thing just like you". There is no good reason why it so hard to find common ground from which to build a bridge. Respect is fearless...

Don’t buy it, I don care. Seventy years after the Southern Strategy republicans are more racist than ever. Most groups naturally progress, but these aholes pride themselves on regression.

So you don't care about 70 plus million people or don't care to participate in a Democracy or don't care for anyone who disagrees with you as in probably over half the human population or just don't care for this conversation or what? How does calling people names help you, me or our Democracy? Also let me point out that there are red states all over the map but one of those racist Southern States just flipped to blue. You always seem to have an axe to grind about the Southern Bigot Racists. I guess it makes you feel better so go for it.

It is not my responsibility to change them. They have to want it and as witnessed the last four years they have zero interest. The fact is they just want to double down and be even more, in the words of Hillary, deplorable.
As I’ve stated before if you want to waste your time dying on a hill trying to change the white grievance party be my guest. I’m moving on.
