Actually Florida is very Southern. Southern hospitality, Southern charm, Southern accent and Southern grit! Other geographical areas are very envious. Probably the reason they call us stupid, ignorant and rebellious. Yeah that Southern grit makes me proud to be from the South. Can't wait for the response because I know it's coming. Bring it on because rebel is our name and conflict is our game

I've lived in Gainesville where the south stops. Lovely place to live. But when I moved to the panhandle I was home again... In the deep south. I'm from Alabama. The Florida Panhandle is my favorite place with perfect weather and wonderful people. And the world's most beautiful beaches. It's a beautiful area. Growing fast, but absolutely love this little northwest Florida piece of the planet.

I've lived in northwest Florida for 60 years and I still dislike sweet tea with a passion. My observation is that coastal citizens, in Florida, as well as other states, are normally not "home-grown", but rather transplants from a rather large array of different places, and different backgrounds.You must not be from Florida! Honestly, in general I don't see the charm and friendliness as anything other than superficial, and the grit is definitely not there as you can see by the widespread inability to do what is necessary to beat the pandemic. Their superficiality masks a deep rooted nastiness, pettiness, and prejudice. I said in general because I do meet plenty of southerners who meet your criteria, but it's probably only about 20%. I've met very few people from other parts of the country who are jealous of the lifestyle. I learned to really like it, because those 20%, who usual lean slightly left, are in fact some of the coolest people I've ever known.Floridians are unique.
