It seems clear to me that the real motivating factor behind the anti-mask and anti-vaccine movements is simply the anti-Joe movement. Since Joe Biden is advocating both vaccines and mask mandates, especially in schools, the Repugs simply cannot say "yes, Joe, that seems like a sensible idea". They have to contort their "logic" to claim any kind of political foothold against a real science-based common sense approach to stop the spread of the virus. As LOTB keeps telling everyone, it isn't the deaths that are the real problem, it is the Spread of the virus. The more it can thrive, the more chance it can mutate into something worse.

Only rational reason I see with the information that I have at present would be an attempt to slow the spread amongst children and subsequently the adults around them. Kids swallow loogies, pick their noses, dig in their unwiped butts etc.. they aren’t wearing and applying their masks like suggested here Can face masks protect against coronavirus? . The question might should be does a natural resistance serve everyone where a vaccinated resistance isn’t possible right now. Opening and closing classes and schools every time covid is spotted doesn’t seem remotely sane either for a variety of reasons. Logistically and educationally.

Kids are pretty disgusting. I have one. Ours caught COVID after 8 days at ECMS this year. Wife and I are vaccinated and we all quarantined for a week. Thankfully, my son's symptoms were mild. He fully recovered and my wife and I didn't get it. For what it's worth, we gave our son the choice to mask or not at school. He chose to mask but said it was difficult to do all the time and nobody else was masking. COVID case count in the schools was 600 students and staff as of last week.

That's the problem, you're looking at this in a macro view and anti maskers and anti vaxxers are looking at it through a selfish micro view that only concerns them.
