Oh My, that was great. I totally agree. i feel our biggest problem is social media. it is terrible for our world. Too many bullies and it has made people lose their common sense. Just like you said learn from mistakes and don't repeat them.

We all buy a lot of stuff from China because it is cheaper than American made. I promise you that republican politicians use our tax dollars to buy stuff from China. It is a game of smoke and mirrors. It is all very stupid because we want American jobs but it is the way our global economy works. I think Congress needs to stop using these political games but what are the chances of that. All we can do is research our political choices the best we can and then vote. When they stop representing us we vote them out.

Let me start by saying I was laughing at myself for misreading your post referring to China.
On the climate I respectfully disagree. Every country should be a part of the solution, but it had to start somewhere and someone has to lead. Close to 200 countries are part of the Paris Climate Agreement the same one Biden had the U.S. rejoin after trump pulled us out.
I will take baby steps over nothing.
Al lot of people have that mentality where they can't seem to grasp that 50% is better than 0%. Anything less than 100% is failure.
In a related note, they don't realize that even with our current electric power plants operating largely on fossil fuels, electric cars are not only cheaper to operate fuel-wise, they are in totality cleaner than ICE cars. The reason is because even at the present, the amount of plants using cleaner sources of energy such as nuclear and hydro is not insignificant. Also more and more homes are using solar, and the use of solar farms and wind farms will continue to grow. Natural gas, while a fossil fuel, is cleaner and more efficient than other fossil fuels. Locally our electricity comes from the burning of natural gas. So while it's not 100% clean, it does help reduce the carbon footprint over other fossil fuels. Net zero emission goal is about thirty years down the road. We can do this, but only if the naysayers quit it with the politricks.
When it comes to net zero emission I don't understand. Are Americans going to stop traveling or turn off the AC. Each time I fly I look at the grid of other planes in the air at the same time and it is staggering. Are Americans going to build homes with solar and wind energy. My point is that politics may divide us over climate change and green energy but "we" have to solve the problem in our homes and the way we travel. Another point is that utilities like FPL are doing everything they can to monopolize energy. FPL advertises planet friendly but if we only knew what is going on behind the political doors we would all be shocked. I think green energy is great but it will be up to us to buy those electric cars, solar panels and wind turbines not to mention change the way we travel. Incentives are wonderful tools but the divisive tones brought to you and I by our political division will be a problem just like with the vaccines. Even if we could get on the same page we still have the problem of I want what I want and will travel to get it. We need to elect good and honest leaders who are willing to tell us the whole truth.

I have to be honest. I read your post very quickly and I'm not sure what your point is. Please explain it to me like I'm five years old in a sentence or two. I doubt that net-zero would apply to things like air travel if that's what you are getting at. I doubt it will ever be achieved 100%, but but we've already covered that base. We are talking decades down the road for something approaching net-zero. Maybe they should change the name to net .0031459256536 just to lower expectations.
