Lot of buzz about Freedom of Speech. Have you ever written a letter to the editor to your local newspaper. I did a couple of times and now you can in many places just post online. The interesting thing is they have rules, word count, topic and such. Even Twitter has rules. Some of them you would think are common sense, but no, they have actual written rules. I would bet if you went there and looked at the rules you would say they were pretty sensible. With that said I get a huge kick from folks who are on whatever platform they are on complaining how they or someone they know are being oppressed, that their speech or thoughts or whatever is being infringed upon. The society I live in has become entitled. We believe that whatever comes from us or some other like-minded soul should not be censored, unless they don't agree with you. My society believes that if your opinion doesn't line up with my opinion you are evil and deserving of being bullied and ridiculed. This society we share believes that there is only one right and I am standing on it. I even saw a sign that says vote a certain way because, We might have our faults but the other side is pure evil. Back to where I was going with this. These platforms have rules. The groups I belong to have rules, even those who say we don't have rules. I was banned from a group that had no rules because I was a moderate, didn't lose any sleep. I was not allowed to comment on another group because I would ask questions and post rebuttals to this former politicians stuff. Doesn't make a difference. As for my rules, I have only unfriended 1 person since I have been on any platform and that was because he said he was a racist and I got NO TIME FOR THAT. I may dislike someone for a lot of reasons, but the color of their skin AIN'T EVER GOING TO BE ONE OF THEM. Like I said rules, they have them, we have them. You don't like someone telling you what time to be at work, start your own business and wait for your customer to wonder what time you will show up to do the job they are going to pay you for. Don't like the rules on your social media platforms, start your own and make sure you tell everyone you got no rules.

LOL again. What would god do with trump or people who are easily fooled because of corrupt politics? Better yet lets assume you are god or at least someone with a lot of power what would you do with trump and his loyal followers? Give your answer some serious thought before responding.

We say "no, the facts demonstrate that you are wrong" and "accepting reality is honorable". Then we say (Poppaj will love this) "Let's honor God by accepting facts and reality instead of alternative facts and alternative realities" :)
I believe that is what Democrats and sensible Republicans are doing: telling Fox-washed Trumpers to accept reality. I'm not sure why you feel compelled to inject your theory of God into this. Again, this is not choosing sides. This is as fundamental as breathing. If anyone is choosing sides, it is the people who choose to believe lies instead of the overwhelming preponderance of facts. (People that put all their faith in God, are punting their responsibility to seek justice in this life. "This is God's plan" they say. No, it's not. Other than the infinite beauty of nature, every bit of goodness and evil in the world were created by human beings.)

Interesting. "Every bit of goodness and evil in the world were created by human beings", "other than the infinite beauty of nature". So humans have potential for goodness and evil while nature is only goodness and beauty. Does nature have a conscience?

I know a lot of religious people. Both friends and family. Not one of them have "punted their responsibility to seek justice in this life". Listen there is no perfect politician, political party or human being for that matter. We are all make good and bad choices in life right? They are making some very bad choices in supporting Trump and the Trump republicans but you and I are not perfect either. Shaming them ain't working and probably making the whole situation worse. I don't have the words to make them change their minds. All I can do is be respectful while pointing out that we all make bad choices but some are worse than others. Believing in things that are not real or true is not honorable for us humans whether it be personal or spiritual. But if you and I behave disrespectful to them we will make this a lot worse and we will lose our democracy for sure. Why is it so hard to have a conversation without blaming or shaming others. Just tell it like it is and let the chips fall where they fall. Trying to be superior in morality is going to cost us the 2022 elections! Trust me we are not superior to this religious group and they are not superior to the non-religious group which includes me. It is just a truth...

Interesting about the supply chain issue and how it has been politicized. Governor DeSantis wants ships to come to Florida from the west coast through the Panama Canal. Not to say our Governor doesn't understand business, I thought I would drop my 2 cents.
It seems many folks blame California for most of the issues here but I suspect it is more about something else than about driving diesel trucks in California. First it sounds like that companies both the manufacturers and those who purchased the goods started to do business again shipping the goods as I understand it, on more boats getting it here. Then those folks who unload, according to what I read there is a shortage of longshoremen to unload and even working 24/7 it will take time. Then we have storage issues. Seems you can't leave the containers in the offload area parking lots, well because they have other boats to unload. I was listening to the news and they say that all the storage/ distribution warehouses are full. Come to find out our over the road trucking industry is 80000 drives short and our rail system is antiquated, so moving stuff is hard.
This is where it get strange to me, Governor DeSantis wants to offload containers in Florida Ports and as it seems other than the ports in California there appears to be no backlog. That would be a great idea, except there is a cost. As I understand prior to the pandemic it cost about $3k to ship a container of goods from the country of manufacture. Now the price is $20k. What do you think is cheaper for the shipping company? Adding another 2 weeks worth of operating cost or sitting out there waiting to unload in California?
As an aside, I was in a mom and pop business the other day and there was a trucker in there. The conversation I overheard was part of the reason for the trucker shortage was/ is compensation. He said the trucking industry has been short over the road drivers for 30 years. Then him and the owner both agreed it was President Bidens fault for the current situation.
RECAP
1. Manufacturing Ramps up overseas making products people want in the United States.
2. Retailers Order said products
3. Americans Seem to be flush with money and they want these products
4. We are short staffed at California Ports where 40% of cargo enters
5. we are short storage because everything is full
6. we are short truckers and railway in antiquated, can't move stuff
7. it is President Bidens fault
8. Governor DeSantis has a fix for it.

Just in case you missed the one thing that confuses me. The nation's warehouses/ storage/ distribution buildings are full.

I think we now have a political system that is divided into a group that is in power and a group that is clawing at that power. The group clawing will do anything to sabotage the group in power. You can define both groups with wealth. One group is so desperate for power that they will destroy our Democracy and give unlimited privilege to those financing their destructive behaviors. Many things are not adding up into a clean and tidy cause and effect. I am not shocked at the political behaviors but I am shocked at how our individual behaviors of we the people can justify that the ends justify the means. I wonder if our choices in life are now threatening Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness...

That logic sounds about right around here. Desantis will say or do anything to undermine the current administration, it's really his only play.

Bringing those ships here would cause havoc and probably degrade the supply chain more. How are you doing to get all those goods back to distribution points on the west coast?

Desantis is full of short term fixes that lead to bigger problems and the needless spending of money, want an example....

The legislature is back in session to piss around for a month and do nothing. Watch as representatives try to decide if they want an overreaching government to tell private business what to do effectively killing a GOP standard.

Distribution is a private sector Fukup that is being blamed on the federal govt. it has been a growing problem for years and Covid just exacerbated it. There is a serious shortage of truckers, container chassis, gantry cranes, storage, etc. A lot of it is due to low wages.
I can not locate it now, but I read an article the other day written by a twenty year trucking veteran who explained it in great detail.

Can we talk about the Trump Banners hanging off a house on 30a? I read a lot from a variety of folks complaining about " Code Enforcement ". Curious if some of those folks complain about them on some issues but then when it comes to those banners they are pissy about the enforcement of the ordinances.?

One of my buddy’s dad always went inside the post office, refusing to use the drop off mailbox and also went inside restaurants, banks, etc completely eschewing drive thrus. He was not going to help automate a job away. The story of “give them spoons instead of shovels” came to my mind, but I took his point.

My dad did those exact same things but for a slightly different reason. He was very social. My mom is not so social so I am a mixture. I hope our political division does not take us down that anti-social path where people either neglect their sprinklers or turn them in a direction to keep us away :)

Been reading the news and particularly focused on President Trump trying to keep his archived January 6th records secret. I know a lot of folks who voted for President Trump and I know a lot of the reasons. With that said, I wonder how his more rabid followers will react if he said what I think he might have said? Or what some of the more radical folks who advised him might have said about his acolytes. Guess if the stall ever gets halted we might find out.

I see a lot of non profits raising money for homeless veterans. I also see a lot of social media post about migrants, poor people and homelessness in general. With that said, some people seem to think giving a helping hand to the poor and migrant in general a bad thing and we should, I am guessing the we being the government, should not allow a veteran to be homeless.
In Florida there are approximately 2500 homeless veterans and Florida budget about 28 million to support the military in some way shape or form. It seems this could be a pretty easy fix that we as a state could fix veteran homelessness in short order within a couple of years. Maybe housing in 3 or 4 locations around the State so those who served would/ could have a place to live. Create a program to help them with employment. Provide medical care and services for mental health if needed.

I realize this is way out there as an idea because I have zero knowledge as to its viability, but I will toss it anyway.
Cruise ships? Last year cruise lines were selling their ships to scrap companies for as little as $100 per ton up to $400 per ton.
It could be a quick short or long term solution since they have everything needed to be self sufficient including a medical clinic.
I will repeat my ignorance on how well this could work.
