Did anyone hear about Daniel Radcliffe performing in a revival of Equus?
This play gave me the creeps when it first came out--kinda sad plot line.
Anyway, check out buff Daniel:
(this link is work/kid safe, but just barely--no nudity, but lots of skin)
ooh la la

I am not going to look at that little man in the buff, but I am curious...has he finished making all the Harry Potter movies he was planning? If so, and he is over 18, so be it.

he's only 17, but is also a professional actor. I know its shocking to harry potter fans, but they will get over it, and like Miss Kitty - they can choose not to look. I LOVE harry potter books/movies. I like his "harry potter" character very much - I love all the actors - they are wonderful actors - and growing up very fast. and I wish him much success in his new role in a classic.

I have to say I wouldn't want my 17 year old son, nor my daughter, still a minor, performing nude. Even if they are an actor. There is a very controversial film at Sundance "Hounddog" that has 12 year old (and I'm sure while it was made she was 10/11) Dakota Fanning staring in a very sexual role. No one wanted to touch the film because of it and they were almost unsuccessful in finding backers.

I only mention this because we are the parents. It is up to us to provide positive role models and yes, I can choose not to go see this and not support it but when these very public and admired actors portray images that are unhealthy for children, I would think twice before seeing them perform in anything else.
When they are adults, and can make decisions as adults, then they are only responsible to themselves. Until then, they are children even at 17! Obviously, their parents are okay with it. I'm just not.

 all of your responses are funny to me... and very normal. however, what's wrong with nudity in art? I just heard the story on E! - "Harry Potter gets totally naked!". pleeeeeeeze. first of all, he's not Harry Potter.... (even though that's the name I know for him)

from cil's article: "One said: 'We as parents feel Daniel should not appear nude. Our nine-year-old son looks up to him as a role model. We are very disappointed and will avoid the future movies he makes.' "

well, maybe children can handle nudity better than their parents... don't know if this play is suitable for children anyway...

dka - you crack me up!
Tootsie, you KNOW I am NOT a prude...just something about seeing him almost nude...just makes me feel creepy???:idontno: Like I am looking at Brad or one of his friends....
Now...if JBJ was to be in the play...  bring on the nudity.....

He will be in July!!! ;-)

I agree so much with this statement. Also, I would much rather my child be subjected to nudity (not hard core porn), as I would him being subjected to violence any day!!!!
True dat!

Daniel going nude reminds me of nothing so much as Julie Andrews baring her breasts in whatever forgotten movie it was. More about the statement "I'm not the goodie-two-shoes you expect me to be" than anything else. Has any reviewer even noticed if Daniel was any good in the role? That's what should matter, not what parts he exposed. (He needs to put on a couple of pounds from what I could see. ;-) )

No, he's 17 and in between making film 5 and 6. I hear now they are changing the name to Massage Parlour of Secrets. ;-)

I agree with you Tootsie, and I appreciate that he may want to avoid being type cast etc., but let's face it, obviously this an adult production, and I am curious how many peeps our age and up would be able to attend
after watching this young brilliant actor grow up in front of our eyes, and watch him strip down to his mugglenutts. :idontno: How many of you with teenagers his age could watch one of his/hers friends play this role?

I just don't think its that big of a deal. we're talking about the human body. why does it have to be so complicated? I don't get it, I guess.

yes! and I am doing all in my power to make him feel okay in his skin, educated (we use the real terms of the human anatomy), but humble. we'll see, though.

his teacher said he came out of the bathroom one day completely nude, saying he needed some clean pants. he did not care in the least. I hope he never does. I know, some parents of his girl friends may not like this...

Just curious, what is the purpose of the nudity in the role?

Sorry, I have no clue what the play is about.

I thought he was at least 20-21? Maybe I'm getting a little prudish, but isn't he a bit young to be playing Equus?
And to the parent that won't let their kids see any more of his movies; Get over it. They'll go see them without you. And I hope they do.

DKA, isn't the blood rushing to your head yet? (Your tar) :funn:

Thank you for clarifying the last part (tar). It certainly wasn't about D.R's M.N's. I'm glad you and me and triple b are having fun with this.

I'm not a parent. But if I were, I wouldn't let my 17 year old do Equus. He's only shirtless for the most part throughout, no big deal. But there is that one "small" scene....

And the news about Dakota Fanning's movie broke my heart. Usually I would reserve judgement till I actually saw the movie, but I won't even be able to watch the movie.

I may not have kids, but I have a gazillion neices and nephews through blood and friendship, and am quite protective of them. But I wouldn't deprive anyone from watching Harry Potter the character because of what Danielle Radcliffe the actor has done.

The Harry Potter series is the best thing that has happened to literature in decades. It has people young and old reading again.

I just think DR's parent's and bizness manager should be bopped in the head. I really did think he was early twenty something. But alas, look at all the publicity its getting.

Mango, you're right, the blood is rushing to my head. And I'm sober. Maybe that's the problem. I'm out of my element. I need a hot toddy.

You're right. I'm starting to sound like one of the types of people that usually get on my nerves. I have a cure for that. Its in the microwave now.

It an Irish coffee mug:
4 oz water
1.5 oz Southern Comfort
1 tsp butter
1 cinnamon stick
1 clove
1 slice lemon

I'll be back to my old self in a few minutes. Or a few cocktails.

OK, I'm back. On the above recipe; it looked good in print. After performing extensive research, it has occurred to me it would be better with one less ingredient.

The water.

What I needed was a good old fashioned whiskey, honey and lemon. But I don't have any honey. So instead of sticking my finger in it to sweeten it, I added a teaspoon of sugar.

In the words of Mary Poppins "Just a spoon full of sugar helps the medicine go down..." She's right. It worked.
