Bill Clinton coming Monday to Destin
July 30, 2007
By Florida Freedom Newspapers

For most of Monday, Harbor Docks restaurant owner Charles Morgan was giving odds of 70-30 that former President Bill Clinton would visit his establishment.
By that evening, the odds had gotten much better, as Clinton's advance team nailed down plans for an exclusive fund-raising event on heavily Republican turf in Northwest Florida.
"Somebody asked 'How did he know how to find y'all?' " Morgan said. "I said, 'Hey, if you're looking to find Democrats in this area, it's not too hard.' "
Only those who produce a check of $2,300 or more will be allowed inside Harbor Docks for the Hillary Clinton fund-raiser, said Toni Craig, who chairs Okaloosa County's Democratic Party. It is scheduled for 8 p.m. Monday.
"I asked, 'Well, what about us poor Democrats?' " Craig said. "At the very least, I'll have my Clinton supporters out at the street."
Clinton's wife, U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., leads among Democratic presidential hopefuls in Florida, according to poll results released Friday by Mason-Dixon Polling and Research.
She won't be at Monday's event.
She had support from 31 percent of the state's Democrats, compared to 17 percent for her closest rival, U.S. Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois.
Florida's presidential primary is Jan. 29.
The former president last visited the area in the late 1990s for an Eglin Air Force Base memorial service honoring victims of the Khobar Towers terrorist bombing.
Morgan said Clinton's plan to visit has generated a lot of excitement in the area.
"The response has been very impressive," he said.
Secret Service agents were scheduled to arrive Thursday to begin preparations, Morgan said.
The restaurant owner did not know exactly what the protocol for such events was, and it was unclear whether media would be allowed to attend the event.
"I asked them how long he planned to speak, and they told me, 'He'll go as long as you've got a microphone in front of him,' " Morgan said. "I'm gonna trick him into playing the saxophone."
Morgan has traditionally been successful at luring big-name Democrats to Harbor Docks.
Bill McBride came to the restaurant in 2002, shortly before emerging victorious in a hard-fought Democratic primary and eventually losing to Jeb Bush in the governor's race.
Presidential hopeful and later vice presidential candidate John Edwards packed the restaurant during a 2003 campaign visit.

While that sounds like something that Hillary would say, Hillary and Bill have two very different ways of communicating with the public. I cannot say that I was a fan of Bill, but he sure was a smooth talker, and Hillary is far from it. In fact, she makes me cringe every time she opens her mouth, much like hearing someone drawing their fingernails down the chalkboard. I think in some respects, Bill made a good leader and many people looked up to him, but I think Hillary would not be perceived as a leader.

Hilary is NOT my 1st choice and
Bill Clinton didn't do anything that alot husbands do,
but he did and continues to do alot of good things. Judge not least you be judged...I admire Hilary for her actions in the face of all that.

IMO, we need to get strong, experienced folks in charge of bringing our nation back together and our kids home.

......Kudo's to Charles Morgan for bringing some attention to our piece of paradise.

For me, it isn't so much her voice, as what she says. She has no ideas of her own, and trying to get her to voice her own opinion is rather difficult. She wants to see the results of the opinion polls prior to saying anything, and that scares the ba-geezers out of me, because the people who vote in the opinion polls are supposed to represent our uninformed population. Scary!

Hillary played dumb to the Monica story because she didn't want to blow her shot at the Presidency. Bill may have not done more than a lot of husbands do, but that doesn't make it right. In fact, it sets the bad example for the population. His actions show that it is okay to break your vows which were made before God and the State. Furthermore, he went a step to far, IMO, lying about it while under oath. He could have said, "My sex life is none of your d_mn business," but no, he lied about, while looking all loving and caring. Now he wasn't the first to sleep around while in office, but I think he was the first to blatantly lie about it to the public in a press release. Not the role model I want for my kids. I want a President (wishful thinking) who will set a good example as a person and a leader. I do hold elected officials to higher standards. They put themselves on a pedestal for everyone to see, so it seems rather ridiculous that they don't think they are being watched by everyone.

As for judging, do you think we should close our eyes and pull the lever when we are selecting a leader for our country? To me, that doesn't make sense. Elected politicians need to be judged every day in order to keep them somewhat honest. I think you are pushing the envelope on that statement about not judging. ;-)

YES, it was wrong for him to lie, and 2 wrongs do not make right. But what about redeemtion?

Husbands and wives make vows before God.

As parents, how we behave is our children's role model.

As for closing our eyes and pulling a lever to elect a leader, IMO ....and I have one just like everyone else... the record shows that is exactly what happened when George Bush was elected.

I too want a honest elected officials.

I am not judging anyone, I simply quoted what the bible says. Not pushing any envelope.

Anyway, my point in posting this was to share the information. :lolabove:

Sorry if I misread what you wrote, but what I gathered from your post was that it was okay for our leader to commit adultery because other men do it. I also gathered that you didn't want us to judge our political candidates.

I really try to stay out of political things, but I found these quotes from Hill interesting....obviously not some of her finest moments. If she treats the citizens of the United States at all like she treated those charged with her protection. ...I think I'll find someone else to vote for....Maxine in '08!

"No matter what you think about the Iraq war, there is one thing we can all agree on for the next days - we have to salute the courage and bravery of those who are risking their lives to vote and those brave Iraqi and American soldiers fighting to protect their right to vote.(Was posted on Hillary Clinton's senate.gov web site on 1/28/05)

"Put this on the ground! I left my sunglasses in the limo. I need those sunglasses. We need to go back!" (From the book "Dereliction of Duty" p. 71-72 - Hillary to Marine One helicopter pilot to turn back while en route to Air Force One.)

"A right-wing network was after his presidency...including perverting the Constitution." (To Barbara Walters about the Republicans who impeached her husband; 20/20, ABC 6/8/2003.)

"What are you doing inviting these people into my home? These people are our enemies! They are trying to destroy us!" (From the book "The Survivor" by John Harris, p. 99 - Hillary screaming to an aide, when she found out that some Republicans had been invited to the Clinton White House)

"I mean, you've got a conservative and right-wing press presence with really nothing on the other end of the political spectrum." (C-Span, 1/19/1997 - Hillary complains about the mainstream media, which are all conservatives in her opinion)

You know, I'm going to start thanking the woman who cleans the restroom in the building I work in. I'm going to start thinking of her as a human being -Hillary Clinton (From the book "The Case Against Hillary Clinton" by Peggy Noonan, p. 55)

"You show people what you're willing to fight for when you fight your friends." (From the book "The Agenda" by Bob Woodward, ch. 14)>:idontno:

"We are at a stage in history in which remolding society is one of the great challenges facing all of us in the West." (From the book "I've Always Been A Yankee Fan" by Thomas D. Kuiper, p. 119 - During her 1993 commencement address at the University of Texas)

"The only way to make a difference is to acquire power" (From the book "I've Always Been A Yankee Fan" by Thomas D. Kuiper, p. 68 - Hillary to a friend before starting law school.)

"We just can't trust the American people to make those types of choices.... Government has to make those choices for people" (From the book "I've Always Been A Yankee Fan" by Thomas D. Kuiper, p. 20 - Hillary to Rep. Dennis Hastert in 1993 discussing her expensive, disastrous taxpayer-funded health care plan)

"I am a fan of the social policies that you find in Europe" Hillary in 1996" From the book "I've Always Been A Yankee Fan" by Thomas D. > > Kuiper, p. 76 - Hillary in 1996)>

I'm definitely not a Hilary fan - I've started to have some grudging respect for Bill as a politician after years of disgust at his vulgar infidelities - but while these are entertaining, I'm not sure quotations taken out of context present an accurate picture.

She is definitely fond of the F bomb isn't she? And not real nice to those working for her - a true test of one's REAL personality!

The idea that the man who ageed to watch a 20 year old female employee perform sex acts with one of his cigars now wants to be associated with the White House again is enough to make me vomit.

You can give all the excuses you want, but the man is pure sleaze....
