We were in Greenville Ms getting ready to celebrate our 9th wedding anniversery.

Would not believe the people that are here in Willie World for Dead Elvis week. They are here by the thousands, wailing, gnashing their teeth, and spending money like a drunk sailor.:lolabove:

Wait, News Flash!!!!

I was decorating my 6th grade classroom and trying to get the nerve to tell my principal that I was expecting my second child in March. I had just taken a year off with my first son. Back then you really didn't teach after you started showing a lot. Not like today . I was teaching in Star,Ms home of Faith Hill. She was in elementary school at the time. I don't think I had time to think about Elvis much. I remember hearing his music on the radio for days.

I was 10 and at Camp Kanakuk in Missouri. It was the day parents picked up their kids. My Mom told me when they pulled up.

That's my little girl, Ali. My wife caught her shaking this piece of edging. It flung out of her mouth right when the shutter clicked!

Here are my kids, Max and Ali...

Ahhhh, camp kanakuk. I know all about that! Joe White is awesome! We used to take our youth group to Young Christians Weekend at Silver Dollar City. We have friends who worked at the camp for many summers. Of course now your kids probably go to the camp.

I was working as a cashier and was quite upset. A co-worker could not come to work as she was too distraught over Elvis's death. So I had to do her shift!:pissed:

We just watched Lisa Marie sing a "duet" with her daddy. Either she had slept with her mascara on for days on end, or black circles around the eyes is the new fashion statement. Pretty girl, needs a stylist though. Her rebel chic look has gone awry!

We were driving in Eastern KY to a place called Quicksand checking out a potential promotion location. I had told Bill that I would not move to a place with a name like Quicksand without seeing it first!

I want to thank each of you for posting your stories. It is interesting to peak into everyone's life at the exact same moment. As for me - well I'm one of the young'ns that was born sometime after his death.

Thanks again!

Being from Memphis, I can testify that yes it is very hot, we have been in the 105's for days. Actual temps, heat index is so high we quit telling anyone.

I was living in East Tennessee at the time and just could not believe the news. A dear friend was his personal nurse whenever he was at Baptist Hospital and was there that day.

She wrote a book about her experiences of knowing him and what a kind, generous person he was. He gave her a cadillac and she told him she had a very good small car and that she really did not need the cadillac and he said, "what do you need?'

She stated, not anything really but my church could use a nice piano. Well Elvis went out and bought the most expensvie baby grand piano you could ever imagine. That was just the way he was.

Linda Thompson, one of his steady girl friends, lived across the hall from me in College in Memphis. I can remember being in college and girls hearing he was in town and would go stand at the gates of Graceland, hopeing he would stop and say hello.

When Elvis bought Graceland it was very much an upscale neighborhood, sadly that is not the case today.

Pregnant....due in 14 days, lying on a blanket with 4 pillows propping me up, under a large oak at City Park in New Orleans. This was a cool spot to be. But the mood changed like a giant wave washing over everyone in the park. A lot of crying going on....and I must admit I cried too. Although, it could have been because I caught sight of my swollen ankles. Noooooo, bad kat, I really learned to love his music later on when I was older.

Love everyone's stories!!!!

:rolling: at least you could see your ankles. I remember when I went to see Elvis in person. I was a fan, but not a fanatic. I thought I just can't understand all this screaming during his concerts.

Well let me tell you, first hip swiggle and I was a goner, screaming my head off too.
