So if I make a tee-shirt that says, "GUILTY," and wear it to the Court Room for my Jury Summons, next month, do you think I will be called to sit on the Jury? :idontno: Any better ideas how to assure myself a seat on the Jury? I just love Jury Duty. :bang:

Maybe a tie dyed or air brush tee that says, "If the glove don't fit you have to acquit. "

That's perfect! The National Enquirer!  There was a guy next to me that was reading a Nascar magazine. Maybe bring one of each?

They most likely won't mention the flips. Like I said a good number of people were extremely dressed down. I was the odd one out since I was dressed well enough to go have a formal dinner. I wish I would have worn my flips - I live in them year round too, I look fairly akward in heels even though I'm a shrimp.

Nascar mags. are good reading.

 ...I just want to be used.

My favorite line all week.

Maybe my shirt could be more subtle and read, something like:

- freedom

- gov't sucks

- pick me

- legalize pot and prostitution

- down with Whitey

- or maybe my signature line

:idontno:

Some suggestions

I have been a citizen of the US for a few (many) years...well, since I was born, and have NEVER gotten a letter in anyway related to jury duty. They don't want me!!!

I just decided which book I will take with me. I don't know why I didn't think of it earlier... The Runaway Jury, by John Grisham. :funn:

That will probably work.

They will also sometimes ask if you have a strong opinion about a specific issue. Develop a strong opinion about everything, just in case...

But this worked for me last month. And I was set to be on that one for over a week. I spoke up about EVERYTHING when they asked if any one in the jury pool had strong feelings or knowledge of. But I spoke up and raised my hand to the point I was wondering if they didnt care that I might be poisoning the minds/opinions other jurors. The guy sitting next to me even told me they wouldnt call me "coz you talk too much" Needless to say I wasnt picked and he (who sat there looking interested) WAS:floor: Just pick a side and be so vocal that the other side will try their best to make sure you ARE NOT picked.

And I never will! I know people who refuse to register so they won't be called for jury duty. We probably don't want those people to vote, anyway.

How about one of Karl Marx's books? Or Mein Kampf? (Did O.J.'s book ever come out?)

I don't know if the OJ book every made it to print, but I can bet you that most lawyers in the Walton County Courthouse, along with the D.A., couldn't name the title of any books of Karl Marx.

I like the idea of picking a side and taking it to the extreme. First, I need to find out what type of case is being heard.

Go with the big ones: drugs, divorce, property issues, assault/battery. You don't even have to have an unconventional opinion, just s strong one that would keep you from being "open-minded."

Around here you just have to have a driver's license to be pulled in for Jury Duty. I'm 98% sure on that.

You shouldn't have to get too creative to avoid it - just tell them you are an educated and rational person ..........

Nothing so scary as a jury of your "peers"!

Maybe because noone ever wants to spend the time to serve. :idontno:

Maybe if they had only one person to sit in the Jury Box, I wouldn't find Jury Duty such a joke of our judicial system.

I'd rather play the odds w/ 12 folks than 1. Maybe I'd get lucky and someone w/ a brain would get past the filters!

I've been :funn: at this thread, but I should really stop and point out a couple of things:

First, most cases get dropped on the day of jury selection. Folks will assert their innocence, until they see people filing in for jury duty. Then, they get nervous and the plea barganing begins. Last time I got called (yes, we get called too, and we can't plead hardship), juries were to be picked for four cases and every dang one of them pled out that morning.

Second, if you have a true hardship (or are elderly, or pregnant, or have young kids at home), all you have to do is call. We wouild prefer you call 892-8115, but you may call 267-3066.

Third...SJ, in reference to the t-shirts...you must not know Judge Green or Judge Wells. But I do.

Don't they call those juries of one "judges?"

You are correct. I don't know the Judges. What are they going to do, send me home? That is why my original thought was to wear one that isn't so obvious, but definitely makes a statement, and as part of my freedom of speech, I dare the Judge to call me on it.

(BTW -- anyone mind checking on my dogs if I get thrown in jail :funn:?)
