Seaside and Private Access

New sign on the west end of Seaside. They are not noting that the beach is private, but they are saying the accesses are private. I wonder what they expect non-Seaside guests, who are on the beach to do when they need to use the bathroom, some in the town of Seaside which are public? Can you see someone who really has to go wasting time arguing with a Seaside Security guard? Any thoughts?

It is easy for me to see the difference. The new signs on the east and west end of the beach are warning beach goers to be prepared that they will not have access to the uplands, the restrooms, the shopping, etc, if they continue to Seaside via the beach. There is a public access at the location of the signs.

In my mind, it is like the warning signs posted in Maine at each end of the Hundred Mile Wilderness, warning experienced hikers to be prepared for a good ten day hike through the Wilderness, because there are no off trails leading to food or supplies. Actually, the recently added a trail coming in, due to the danger, so it is more like the Fifty Mile Plus Wilderness.

You're being way too gracious. The 100 Mile Wilderness signs are obviously posted for life and death reasons. I could understand a similar courtesy for beachgoers, but under a mile of beach is no 100 Mile Wilderness. Seaside's ambiguous beach signs with no amount of courtesy or concern are implied except for their own goals of scaring the public off public beach.

I believe those, along with those heavy solid-wood beach lounge chairs, are a violation of the Beach Ordinance. Should we call Code Enforcement?

Sounds like a good idea! You call since you got the picture for them!

Seeing how the GM of Seaside is married to the owner of one of the largest chair companies on 30A, that would go over really well.

I'm confused though. What specifically is a violation in terms of beach chairs and their make as long as they are cleared away each day?

I wonder what would happen to Seaside if no one was allowed to take photos of the buildings and people? :idontno: What if every photo of Seaside I posted on the internet had a little red X in a box at the upper corner of the image, with a note, "Not for public viewing. Seaside Owners and Registered Guests Only?":idontno: I know of only one way to handle this, and telling you, might land me in the big house, and I ain't talking about one of those in Seaside.

Just a point of interest! I think some of this stems from the public access points on both ends of seaside and one of them being a sliver of access between WC and Seaside on it's west end. if you have noticed WC is now digging up the ground across 30a and at one time was letting people park there as a "Public Parking" spot for said access. It just makes me wonder? how will people get to the beach via public access points and yet not be able to turn right or left because of "private beaches" on each side!:bang:

When we stay at Gulf Trace, a lot of our people stroll to Seaside during the day via the beach. It's a nice, long walk, and they go SHOPPING when they get there! As in contribute to the economy. They don't squat on the Pavillions or just stop in to use the potty--the whole purpose is to spend money, with the added bonus of 1) enough exercise to justify the extensive eating that is done, and 2) not having to find/take up a parking place in Seaside.

:bang:

I have a nasty habit of riding my bike through there early on a Sunday morning and stopping in the church for a bit of illogical contemplation. What's next?

Private. No public access.

Church use and access to the Almighty
strictly limited to Seaside homeowners and their guests.

:idontno: I guess someone didn't think too highly of Seaside's newest signs. It also appears that Seaside Security (SS) is asleep behind the wheel.

They forgot to bring their can of charcoal lighter fluid, though...

I was hoping to find a big pile of poo on the sign. No luck. The sign would look great on the wall above my fireplace, but it is too incriminating.

I hope I didn't leave any fingerprints on it when I was taking photos of it yesterday.

No, I'm not on the run. Last time I checked, it wasn't illegal to take photos of the beach in Seaside, if I'm not using the photos for commercial purposes. Not to mention that the sign could interfere with Beach safety vehicles and sea turtle nesting, and is probably in violation anyway.

No, I'm not on the run. I've done nothing wrong. Not to mention that the sign could interfere with Beach safety vehicles and sea turtle nesting, and is probably in violation anyway.

Dang. I hoped that you were the perpetrator.

Thinking more about this dislocated Seaside sign, I sure hope someone wasn't walking down the beach at dark last night and bumped into the sign causing severe head trama. That would be one nasty lawsuit for Seaside.
