Anybody out there have words that they just can't stand to use or hear used? I have three and I absolutely cannot ever use them. I don't know why they just bother me. So hear they are Yummy, Beefy, and finally Panties! Never used in that order gross. Just typing them is hard but I did it. If you have any please share.

Biggest peeve? My mother says "goat the bathroom" instead of "go to"
Drives
Me
Crazy!
Posed or sposed instead of supposed is a very close second.
:welcome: :welcome: post more often!

I love the word discombobulated! (maybe because it describes me???:floor: )
I hate it when people say Illinois (and they end it by pronouncing the S  )

Definitely the "C" word! The "F" word that is british for cigarette too. The word panties - if you are talking about adult undergarments they are underwear, thongs, boxers, etc.

Accents are fun and add flavor ..... adding letters and misspeaking drives me nuts and makes you sound like an uneducated moron! If you are over the age of 7 and don't have a speech impediment, enunciate and use the correct word! It's not cute after that age!

Announcers who mispronounce basic things drive me nuts too - they're on national television, yet don't know how to say the names of states correctly? WTF!

have got

As in: "I have got to go to work." or, "You've got mail."
It should be: "I have to go to work." or "You have mail."

This drives me nuts.
I hear this all day long. Even TV reporters use it. It's even been used in great works of literature. I am always amazed at it's usage - - and I am no pro when it come to grammar.

I'm like Ms. Kitty. HATE, HATE, HATE "pee"

But the winner of the day and it makes me laugh is: Yummy! :floor: (Yummo is definitely a close 2nd tho.)

I don't care for the word, "doo-dad"

Did he call it "oak - a - la" ? Hoo-ah!

I'm more forgiving with mispronouncing town names, as there are so many different possibilities and influences. I grew up in an area with many towns etc. with Indian names and never thought anything of it until I had friends from Texas & California home for thanksgiving and they gleefully recited and mispronounced town names for days.

The word "anyway" when used to cut someones sentence short and change the subject. Some people were never taught the art of conversation. Anyway how about them bears!

Or the rediculous debate over the proper spelling and pronunciation of Anna Nichol Smith's poor new born.

The goat plunger is hilarious; now everytime she says it I'll picture her plunging the toilet with it and giggle
"It-ly" and "Eye-talian" are a couple more that come to mind...
One that I catch myself using, and cringe every time I do - "I'm gonna"

This is hysterical. We were JUST talking about this. Among the agreed upon least faves:
-moist
-panties
(no jokes intended there)

One of my favorite words is reciprocity. It's just fun to say.

We were also discussing how the name Sarah is a great name for a child but we couldn't use it because our grandmother would say SAY-ruh (which would drive us bananas).

well, I love almost all bad words!!! and use them quite often. however, there are a few words that I could do without, they may be gross or just irritating to hear. here are a few...

first of all I dislike the word HATE. but these words are just gross sounding:

vomit
puss
snot
scrotum
head cheese
booger
fromunda cheese
hock a loogie
tea bag
schlong
crapper (but I like crap - and use it a lot)
arm pit
stink
I was going to say buttcheese - but I think I like that one.

but there are many irritating words that I can't remember and don't ever think about them until I hear them.
