I would like to know which one of you very fine sowal ladies gave Beachbummit her new recipe of how to boil eggs? Two weeks ago she tried boiling eggs for two hours only to end with the kitchen smelling something like well.......really rotten eggs. Last night, she decided to modify this recipe by not just boiling eggs for two hours, but for four hours! Again, same result except this time I awaken at 2AM smelling extremely rotten eggs and smoke. I don't know if she should be banned from trying to cook in her sleep or maybe swap her egg boiling recipe with one that requires only boiling the eggs for 10-15 minutes. Or maybe I should just remodel the kitchen, throw out the stove and put a vanity in its place? All I can say is she really needs some help, and think God she can kiss better than she cooks.

:funn:OMG...she does not know how to boil freaking eggs?
FFF, take your advice...get rid of the stove, put the vanity in. It will get much more use.

For the record:
Perfectly Boiled Eggs.
1 dozen large eggs
Water to cover
Pinch salt
Place the eggs in a saucepan and cover with water. Season with a pinch of salt. Place the pan over medium heat and bring to a boil. Cook for 2 minutes. Remove from heat and cover with a lid. Allow the eggs to sit for 11 minutes. Drain and cool the eggs for 2 minutes in ice water. Drain and peel the eggs.
Now, what was she using these boiled eggs for? I am curious.

Thanks for the recipe - I didn't know the exact times for boiling eggs either (knew it wasn't hours), but I'd have boiled a couple minutes longer.
How long for a soft boiled egg?

By the way FFF... If I was BB and you were taking my kitchen secrets to the internet I'd be tempted to throw eggs at you, not boil them.
Be careful she doesn't share some info with us about you.

Not really sure? I think it was an experiement or something. She has been hanging around all you artistic cook's and creators so much...I just think she is trying to do stuff she has never done before. This past Christmas I went to the craft shop to purchase my neice one of those bead making kits. Well, I showed BB this bead making kit and placed it on the table to wrap. Well, I went to run a few tasks, and a hour later I come back to find her trying to make jewelry
. Make sure you all ask her to show you some of the pieces she made some time....
You know, on second thought, I am going to scap the vanity and just put in a salt water fish tank.

Last weekend she bought a steamer, now she's boiling eggs.
I am worried. Did she catch something?

I think the Red Tide is changing her personality.

If that's the case, that's only, forget it. We'll be able to get her some help.

Oh we are short staffed today, and since she is having to work two jobs on the front desk......well I am safe for the next 6-7 hours. Give's me a lot of time to get out of the line of fire.

Let the eggs warm up slowly to room (or tap water) temperature before you turn on the heat. Keeps the shells from cracking (Most of the time anyway).
Also, too fresh eggs don't boil as well as those that are a few days old. Kind of like too fresh bread does not make as good toast as slightly older bread does.
Why is that?

ok, this reminds me of the time someone told me how to cook fried rice... I had the eggs ready, sauce, chopped carrots, all to make the fried rice like in the japanesse restaurants.. So I put butter in the pan and heated up up and pour my uncooked rice in the pan, man it started to get burned and smell.. could not figure out what I did wrong.... tried it a 2nd time... later found out the problem...well the person did not tell me that I had to COOK the first.

Funny! When I first got married someone gave me a "basics" cookbook. It was full of the helpful basics of cooking. Almost a "Cooking for Dummies" if you will. Everyone needs it, we don't just pop out ready to cook like the Pillsbury Doughboy. Burn and learn my daddy used to say.

i like the fact that she did it not just once, but twice

FlyforfunThumpin will be a under statement cause this thread has already been viewed 122 times. But I have nothing to worry about cause she will be spending her lunch cleaning out the kitchen freezer. I guess the red tide has shorted out some of her brain cells cause she put a case of cokes in the freezer! Frozen coke is everywhere! I mean its to the point I had to use a ice pick to chip out a froozen meal! I thought about taking a picture of it and posting it on here, but that would be just really, really bad. Think God I still can get my big head in my ole high school football helmet cause I am going to need it tonight

That's the patented Alton Brown method from Good Eats on Food TV! Works great!
