I've seen the emails on other trips forwarding some foreign blogger's article about Obama's trip costs and entourage. It seems as if people never really knew the costs and logistics of a traveling President but suddenly they are aghast, and they somehow believe that Obama is splurging beyond belief and beyond any other President. The way these emails are forwarded with such hostility and outrage, I'm beginning to think complete ignorance is becoming the norm and worn as a badge of honor. Really, if you even try to respond with accurate information and history of Presidential travel, you just feed the fire and are seen as "elite" (if you think, you are elite). What can you do? Thanks to Scooterbug for having the patience to provide actual information to our members. What a terrific news hound you are! Scooty likes the truth! most of us do, actually.

There was actually a documentary done on, I believe the History channel, about Presidential travel. They followed Bush for a trip to Africa. The advance team was there 3 months ahead of time and they air lifted everything in from supplies to food. They never mentioned cost, and cited security reasons, but it didn't look cheap. I still don't believe $200 million per day, unless Haliburton was in charge, but I could believe that amount as the total price tag for the entire trip.

The article did say that the total costs are probably in the millions - but that most of that was for security and costs that are there regardless of where the President is or what he is doing. (And the total trip cost is still a fraction of the supposed daily total listened in that hack article).

Air Force One, 24 hour bodyguards & support staff, armored cars, fortified residences, and secure uplinks and communications aren't cheap.

Part of Obama's job is to take these trips. They are the same trips previous Presidents took to go to events that other world leaders are attending.

WE CANNOT TELL YOU THE EXACT COST FOR OBAMA'S TRIP OR FOR ANY PRESIDENT'S TRIPS - TAKE IT UP WITH THE SECRET SERVICE AND THE PENTAGON.

WHAT WE CAN TELL YOU IS THAT YOUR ARTICLE IS A STEAMING CROCK AND THAT PRESIDENT OBAMA IS NOT SPENDING ANY MORE MONEY THAN ANY OTHER RECENT PRESIDENT OF EITHER PARTY.

It is back to Bush. In 2 years it will all be Obama because he will be gone and it will all be his fault.

Take your own advice.

Do your own research....btw W.Bush is not president, nor was he in the depths of a recession. Are you sure your not residing in California? That is the only place you could be,facing a bankrupt government and still electing the same bus driver that drove the economy off the cliff.
Get back to me with your results.

Nobody has bothered to ask, what's the average daily price of keeping a president alive on a slow day?

The Tea Party will be in total control of the Republican Party by 2012. They have now even set up a list of Republican "targets" that they want out of office, those whose election is coming up in 2012--includes the likes of Kay Bailey Hutchison of Texas and Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown, i.e., Republicans who may want to...oh God..compromise. They have no agenda for the next two years other than to continue to say "No." They're standards are low, and their morals even lower.

They are as transparent as whomever originated this post. Truly educated and rational people scare and intimidate them. They are more concerned about reversing the historic Healthcare Reform Act and personally damaging the reputation of the President of the U.S., then they are about creating the new jobs of the future and balancing the budget. Not off to a real good start IMO.

The Obama administaration is not disclosing the cost....the info. came from an Indian newspaper, which I assume has nothing to gain politically from the story.
Do you have any facts?

Quit drinking the Faux news punch by the tub before you fall in and drown...

Even former Bush stooly Andrew Card has stated that the report and numbers are ridiculous. He has also stated that the WH should NOT disclose specific details and cost of any trip due to security.......

Of course you can discredit him because I'm sure he has something to gain politically by stating that...:sarc:

Since you are too drunk on the Red Koolaid to do your own research and love reports from Indian News Sources.....another point of the trip....

?And a whole bunch of corporate executives are going to be joining us so that I can help them open up those markets and allow them to sell their products,? Mr. Obama said.

According to some reports, his India trip could alone fetch orders worth $12 billion -- both military and civilian -- that could result in creating / saving as much as 50,000 to 60,000 jobs in the U.S.

Of course that must be BS, because only a Repub POTUS would make a trip to improve business in the U.S.

$200 million per day is nothing if it helps keep Nanci Pelosi one heartbeat further from taking the office of the President, right?

walk the walk, you also have to remember that Obama will spend less if he tax dollars if he isn't in Washington passing the other kind of bills.
