No apology from me until someone can discredit the Indian newspapers claim......I will man up if someone can.

I know you think math is one of mankind's useless inventions, but here's a breakdown from one of the comments on the "news" link you provided:

Do you bother to check facts at all? The $200M a day figure is obviously false. Think about it. Even if he got 3,000 hotel rooms at $1000 a night that is $3 million. If he pays 1,000 security personnel $1000 a day, that is another million. If round trip flights cost around $4000 a person, for 3,000 people divided by 4 days that is another $3 million a day. If all 3,000 people eat $333 worth of food a day that is another $1 million. I am estimating high and that is still only around $8 million, where is the other $192 million going? These absurd numbers have no basis in reality as confirmed by the White House. It might cost 200 million Indian rupees a day, which comes out to around $4.5 million dollars, still a lot, but nowhere near $200 million a day, which is a ridiculous and unfounded figure.

What's really interesting is if you research the source.

DNAIndia.com known as daily news analysis India, is a joint venture between two companies:

Dainik Bhaskar Group and Zee Group

DB Group links to a site that is almost entirely written in Hindi and turns out to be a news site similar to CNN, Fox News, or any number of other sites. The site was created and has only existed since January 2010.

Zee Group is a subsidiary of the Essel Group. After looking at the websites I contacted one of my programmers in India. This is copied and pasted from our IM:

this is scam all crooks they steal your money
Like most crooks they saw an opportunity and took it. They released this 'story' and I'm sure made sure the right people would see it. They basically got millions if not billions of dollars in advertising for a badly written article. I'm curious as to how many people went through the search process and clicked on the investors link on their web page without discovering that most of the other links don't work.

As a side note one of their businesses they own is DishTV. :funn:

To put it simply, it's the Indian version of a pump and dump penny stock scam.

Will you accept the Pentagon as an acceptable source for discrediting the claim?

The Pentagon has dismissed as ?absolutely absurd? and ?comical? Indian media reports that US President Barack Obama will be protected by 34 US warships during his visit to India this weekend.

In a departure from normal practice of not divulging details regarding security arrangements for presidential visits abroad, the Pentagon on Thursday clarified that no armada of warships has been deployed for Obama?s India visit.

?I will take the liberty this time of dismissing as absolutely absurd this notion that somehow we were deploying 10 per cent of the Navy ? some 34 ships and an aircraft carrier ? in support of the president's trip to Asia,? Pentagon press secretary Geoff Morrell said.

?That's just comical. Nothing close to that is being done,? he said.

Further commenting on Indian media reports that the President?s visit will cost 200 million dollars a day for security, Morrell said, ?I think there's been a lot of creative writing that's been done on this trip over the last few days. I've seen other reports with some astronomical figures in terms of what it costs to take these trips.?

How about the Press Secretary for the President of the United States?

White House spokesperson Robert Gibbs, dismissing the Indian media reports, said both the figures of the warships as well as the security cost for the trip were grossly misquoted.

?The Department of Defense has said, as we have, that that's simply not true,? Gibbs said on the reports of 34 warships being used for Obama?s security.

On the cost aspect, Gibbs said the costs were comparable to the costs incurred by Presidents George W Bush and Clinton to the region.
