Oil spill and activity in Atlantic could make for 'ominous' hurricane season | al.com

Masters predicts that the 2010 hurricane season, which starts June 1 and goes through November, could be one of the five most active ever recorded. The chance of more than one named storm riding up the Gulf of Mexico, he said, is about 95 percent.

Make sure that you have your Hurricane Plan in place....could be an interesting season....

It's going to be interesting when BP tries to attribute oil landfall to a tropical system or the cancellation of reservations. At least most tourists know that an active hurricane season doesn't mean you rush out and cancel your plans.

I'll lash the Harley to the big pine tree, and park the car next to the Harley. I'll also make sure to video each and every item inside and outside my house, and hope for the best......when all else fails, make sure you have good insurance. I'm hoping the hurricane season will take care of the oil-spill problem, but in a good way.

With about 6 weeks left in the season:

15 named storms, as of Otto
7 hurricanes
5 major hurricanes (Cat 3 or above)
Danielle, Earl, Igor, Julia, and Karl

See this:
Tropical Weather Summary

The large number of "fish storms" has made an otherwise active season look less busy than it actually has been.

Given how far in advance the CSU forecast comes out, they've done a pretty good job this year.
