Yuck! Yesterday was a gorgeous day for a bike ride but had to be more cautious than usual due to all the gravel/fill they just put down washing onto the path w/ Friday's rain.

Can we have the convicts tidy it up after this round of rain/before this weekend/Artsquest?

Scenic highway 30-A is like a lot of scenic highways. It has the most beautiful areas you would ever want to see and then you pass into areas that aren't scenic at all. I love the diversity of 30-A but have always been struck by 2 things. The above the ground power lines (reminds me of the outer banks in NC which are not pretty) and the signage. That being said, none of that matters because when you go from there down to the water you forget about everything else. The sand and water are so beautiful.

My wife and I went on a drive to Seaside the other day and because of all the furor about the lake signs we took special notice of them.
In case you haven't heard, the county is in the midst of a budget crisis just like the rest of the country. The signs do what they are designed to do...identify the dune lake. I think they help visitors understand what the name of the particular lake is and that is the object. Could they be prettier? Sure, but the serve the purpose that is intended. They are probably the same as the street signs because there is already a contract to produce them in place. At any rate, it is not that big a deal, IMO.

Let hope someone does not mistake them for street signs (as that is what they are) and drive into the lakes. Sorry IMO they look ridiculous!

Does anyone know if sod is going to be placed over the fill dirt that was deposited up and down 30-a? It's all I see when I drive to work now as it's BRIGHT yellow/orange and looks horrible. Isn't it supposed to be a SCENIC highway?
im sure i;m readin this wrong,.....no local can possibly be thinking about the grass/sod, ect. that is isnt growing on the side of a highway right now.,,,,,, it boggles the mind...

If we do actually get oil here, it certainly wouldn't hurt tourism to have a pretty and well maintained bike path as a beach alternative.
