Even in SOWAL, ya need locks on bikes!
We also had a few items stolen. Our Stella Artois sign at the entrance to the restaurant and our trash cart were stolen. The most important thing that was stolen was a 12 year old kids new bike. He just received it for his birthday 2 months ago. One of our employees (the child's stepdad) rode the bike to work over the weekend and left it overnight in a secluded, gated outdoor area thinking it would be fine. He came to work and realized it had been stolen. So disappointing.

My friend had two bikes stolen from Seaside, parked at the bottom of the stairs of B&A's one night. Remember, locks are made for honest people. Crooks will know how to bypass locks.

Very sad to hear about this Lisa.

I know that over the years it seems as if we hear about a sudden rash of stolen items from small to big, and it seems to occur during a big holiday weekend, usually July 4th. Residents are so trusting all year round. But, there are times when we have too many people/crazy kids partying and doing things they shouldn't. My guess its someone from out of town. But, who knows?

I do fear the day when real crooks make their way down here to prey on our trusting residents! that's when we'll know that our town has really changed for the worse. I'll have to start locking stuff up! maybe this day has come?

I wonder if we can find out where this person is living. Lisa,
this sounds way too familiar. This person loved to decorate and was finally put away for repeated violations. She is a career criminal.

If she was incarcerated thru the Florida prison system she has to register a new address with them upon release and is on the website. It doesn't neccessarily mean she's there, but it's usually a safe bet. Oh and if she's on parole then it has to be her actual current location. That'll be listed under the supervised section.

Lisa!
So sorry this happened to you and the others! Your area is so cute and I hate it that you too have to take steps to prevent thievery, and your items are NOT small or light! What is that thief thinking? that no one will notice???
Anyway, just wanted you to know we are all sad this happened and hope you can get your items recovered soon! Sounds like the neighbors are going to help out too!
Cooooooooooool!

and it is wonderful that you thought enough to thank the deputy Rick Brown for helping you out. All our deputies need to know they are appreciated even if they are "just doing their job" (^___^)
