Try very lightly dusting the floor of the pantry with some talc to see where it is running from/to...then place traps accordingly.

.

Thank you, Shelly....when it ran across the hall, it ran to a part of the house that is being renovated...ie...sheet rock is out, bare studs exposed and bathroom fixtures in the wall are exposed as well as the pipe that runs thru the floor under the house...rat ran to that and went outside...I hope. I stuffed it wth a towel until tomorrow when I get something to cover the hole. So..I am pretty sure the mystery is over, as to how it got in, was getting in and out.

Monday Evening Update: Came home after being gone for the weekend...left the peanut butter in the mouse trap and thought when I walked in the door...OMG...I hope I didn't.........................set the trap and left for the weekend.....*^$)(%^...........Well...apparently I did! Evidence of the rat in the pantry again...eating stuff he wouldn't eat the last time...and the trap was....gone. Found it on the bottom shelf of the pantry, sprung and still had SOME of the peanut butter in it.

Called my hubby to tell him the saga and the little S**t ran across the hall...did I say little? Not Little.....Not big either ...in between...a young rat...perhaps.

Havaheart trap is now set with smoked cheddar.......

The saga is OVER....RAT is DEAD! Daddy Tim (aka RubenJaymes) bought a rat trap and loaded it with snickers. This morning I was cleaning out the pantry...yet again...and didn't think anything about not seeing the trap where it is supposed to be. Then I saw it at the back of the pantry...........nuff said. Daddy Tim is my hero.
