I am sure having trouble adjusting to my husband's new work hours. All week long I have been droopy and dragging at work. I try to go to bed about 45 minutes before he comes in at 11:30 as I know he will be staying up around another two hours after he gets home trying to wind down. Well, I too, have not been able to go to sleep myself until around 1:30 like I have been the one at work that late. And I have to get up for work around 6:00 a.m.! Didn't have any problems sleeping while he was in Germany for two weeks. Why now? Any suggestions as to how to resolve this??? Can't keep having this going on from week to week with his late work schedule! So frustrating!

I have always been used to him being home when I go to bed! I am one that takes about 30 to 45 minutes to go to sleep anyway, but this 1:30 a.m. stuff doesn't get it. He does not wake me up as a rule when he comes to bed after I do. I think I am just too wound up because of the fact that he isn't home, and me trying to go to sleep like I normally would, as if he were. Hoping I will adjust!

you will....it just takes time...must be hard though, changing a sleep routine...funny, I always slept better by myself when I was married and hubby was out of town alot! I enjoyed sleeping alone....think that was a hint that i didn't want to be married?   :D

 Don't know! I had absolutely no problem sleeping when he was in Germany for 15 days. I slept solid all night every night. Would have thought I would not have slept good then. I keep our burglar alarm set and of course, when he comes in, he has to disarm it. Probably not going to sleep until after he gets home because I know he would wake me up coming in anyway. I am totally wide awake. But for me to take two hours to go to sleep. That is not norm for me!

you will adjust, take my word for it. it took us a couple of months for mr audie to get used to me not being there, but now we both sleep better when i am working. probably because i sleep better during the day, and the week i am off and trying to sleep at night i only sleep 3 or 4 hours at a time.

Take it from somebody who lives sleep deprived and with the worst work hours in history-invest in a sleeping mask and some foam earplugs from the pharmacy. Keep your regular sleep hours with these weapons against insomnia-hope it works.:dunno:

You could try something natural too. It's called Valerian Root. You can get in local health store. It's non-addictive, all natural, and most people don't have any kind of allergic reaction at all.
It just takes the edge off so you can relax and fall asleep. It might help you stay asleep too when he comes in the room along with the ear plugs. You should take it about an hr before you anticipate going to bed.

Or you could do what I do and I am an exceptionally light sleeper. Start listening to talk radio at night. I swear it works for me. I'm actually addicted to it. The drone of a boring voice or classical music quickly puts you to sleep. Set a timer for it to turn off if you're afraid it will bother you later AFTER you've gotten to sleep. It takes some getting used to but w/in a week, you'll be drifing off to sleep, especially if Sean Hannity is on!
