Advice re: vacation timing

The week before the 4th may be a bit busy, but that day is also a lot of fun. Last year we sat on our deck in Inlet Beach and could see fireworks from PCB to Destin, including the local show "next door" in Rosemary. Besides, "crowded" is relative. No matter when you come, you won't find wall-to-wall bodies on the sand, like at other beaches. Come early and often!

Even though some of you have tried to talk me out of coming altogether (what's next, tales of the burmese python invading SoWal ), we decided on the week before the week before the 4th. (Got that? ) I love traveling anywhere in the off-season, but August is not doable because we have some people in our party that need to be in Texas then. THanks for all the insights!
